Essential Question: What are the most essential items, skills and conditions for the survival of explorers and settlers in new worlds?

Science: Students use the engineering and design process to represent data in graphical displays to reveal patterns of daily changes in length and direction of shadows, day and night, and the seasonal appearance of some stars in the night sky. 

Social Studies: Students trace the routes of early explorers and describe the early explorations of the Americas.

Social Studies: Students trace the colonization, immigration, and settlement patterns of the American people from 1789 to the mid-1800s.
