iINNOVATE Elementary exposes students at a surface level to the many career and technical pathways and industry leaders offered in our community. With iINNOVATE secondary: skills lab, students can dive deeper into specific industry sectors that peak their interest. These industry sectors include but are not limited to agritech, space, aerospace and aeronautics, building construction and design and cleantech and renewable energy. These sectors are also connected to the REACH 2030 jobs plan. More information on this is linked below.
Career and Technical Education courses, or CTE courses are offered at the high school level. These courses consist of 15 industry sector pathways that allow students to take a deep dive into that industry or career before graduating high school. iIINOVATE units are aligned to these 15 industry sectors at the elementary school level in order to expose students to the realm of possibilities in career and technical education.
For Central Coast residents to succeed in the regional and global economy, they need seamless and integrated education opportunities throughout a lifetime of learning and training. That requires education and private-sector leaders to strengthen coordination, integration, funding, and implementation of talent-developed initiatives, programs, and pathways that are aligned to regional industry demands.
The REACH 2030 jobs plan identifies potential industry initiatives that will offer students good-paying jobs by the time they graduate. They recognize that local industry leaders will need talent, for without significant talent, businesses stall, regions stagnate, and quality of life declines.
