In this article I will talk about what Father's Day is, traditions to do on Father's Day, and the story behind Father's Day. 

The Story Behind Father's Day 

Father's Day, is a holiday to honour fathers. The person that came up with this idea was Sonora Smart Dodd of Spokane. The reason she came up with this holiday is because she wanted to give credit to her dad as her mum had died due to childbirth. Because of that, her dad had to raise 5 children alone and he was a Civil War veteran.

What is Father's Day ?

Father's Day is a holiday honouring your father, as well as fatherhood, spending time with your father, and recognising the influence of fathers in society. The holiday complements similar celebrations honouring family members, some family members such as Mother's Day and, in some countries, Siblings Day, and Grandparents' Day. 

Traditions to do for Father's Day 

• Go for a bike ride with your dad

• Buy your dad a card or a gift 

• Finally, do some arts and crafts to show how much you love your dad
