Geography helps young people develop a rich set of transferable skills that prepare them for learning, life
and work. Through exploring physical, human and environmental processes, learners build strong analytical
and critical-thinking skills, learning to interpret a wide range of maps, data, graphs and visual information.
They develop their ability to ask meaningful geographical questions, investigate issues using evidence,
and draw well-reasoned conclusions.
BGE Curriculum Rationale
In S1 & 2, pupils will experience all three social subjects on a rotational basis. Rotations in term 1 and 2 are
for 8 weeks and the second rotation in term 3 and 4 are for 4 weeks. This means that every pupil will experience Geography for two rotations in both S1 & S2. During term 3 in S2, pupils will select their option choices where they can choose either one or two social subjects to carry forward to S3. In S3 you will begin working towards the course content included in the National Certificate courses.
