This weekend of intensive leadership training and team building is designed and facilitated by the Washington FFA State Officers, Executive Director, and State Advisor. It is available to each of the nine district officer teams, and is held over a two-day period. Isabel Riley, our secretary, will serve as a district officer this year and attend training.
The goal of the Washington Agriculture Leadership Experience is to introduce advance FFA members to business, industry and legislative contacts within our state. An average of 50 students and estimated 15 agriculture teachers participate each year. This year three members of our officer team will attend.
One of the biggest traditions in our chapter is participating in Leadership Career Development Events at the Sub-District and District levels. FFA develop skills in the areas of, Public Speaking, Creed Speaking, Ag Sales, Job Interview, Vet Science, Forestry and more.
Each spring, the SKFFA Livestock Evaluation team(s) compete in the Livestock Judging Career Development Event (CDE) held at the Puyallup Fairgrounds to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of livestock by placing classes and giving an oral set of reasons on market and breeding classes of cattle, hogs, sheep, and goats.
