WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF APPRENTICESHIPS AVAILABLE?

An apprenticeship is a job with training and the chance to gain qualifications. As with any job, an apprentice gets paid, but they also take part in formal on-the-job training and study for relevant qualifications linked to their role. Qualifications are paid for by the employer. Apprentices do not pay anything towards their qualifications.

There are 4 types of apprenticeship:

POST 16 APPRENTICESHIP OPTIONS

• Level 2 - Intermediate: Equivalent to 4 GCSE's - Generally, applicants are required to have English and maths GCSE at a Level 4 or above, to be considered.

• Level 3 - Advanced: Equivalent to 2 A-level's - 5 GCSEs grade 4+, including English and maths, are required to apply for this level of Apprenticeship.

POST 18 APPRENTICESHIP OPTIONS

• Level 4/5 - Higher: Equivalent to a foundation degree or higher - A minimum of 2 A-levels grade C+ (or equivalent) are needed to apply.

• Level 6 Degree: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree - A minimum of 2 A-levels grade C+ (or equivalent) are needed to apply. Although there is high competition for these Apprenticeships, so the higher the qualifications you have the more chance you will be considered.

• Level 7 Degree: Equivalent to a Master’s Degree - usually taken after a Degree is obtained.
