S.A.L.T. stands for Serving And Learning Together. It is a new volunteer service program designed to foster community, keep tuition costs manageable, and encourage family involvement in our students' education.
Simply because your involvement matters! Research shows that students thrive academically and socially when their families are involved. This program aims to build a strong moral foundation for students while creating a culture of cooperation and service among our families.
The S.A.L.T. requirement officially begins with the 2026-2027 school year. The service period for that year runs from June 8, 2026, through June 4, 2027.
Each school family is asked to contribute a minimum of twenty (20) service hours per school year.
We offer several flexible options to meet the requirement:
Student Help: Students ages 12 and up can contribute toward their family’s hours with prior approval.
Financial Contribution: You may pay an annual contribution of $200 in lieu of service hours.
A "Hybrid" Approach: You can combine service and financial support. Any remaining hours at the end of the year can be fulfilled at a rate of $10 per hour.
Don't worry! If you are having trouble finding ways to serve, please contact our S.A.L.T. Coordinator at SALT@skagitadventist.com
We offer a wide range of opportunities to fit different schedules: on-campus, from home, and after hours. A complete list can be found on the Service Opportunities page.
While all help is valued, we encourage families to consider the bolded service opportunities on the Service Opportunities page. These opportunities are where the greatest need is at SAA, including but not limited to the school fair and fall auction.
Yes, for any service hours completed on the SAA campus or while students are present (i.e. field trip chaperone), volunteers must complete a background check through Sterling Volunteers (Washington Conference), watch a training video, and sign a volunteer agreement. Please see the front office for details.
First, review the opportunities listed on the Service Opportunities page. Then, email SALT@skagitadventist.com to let the S.A.L.T. coordinator know where you’d like to help. Lastly, the coordinator will provide you with instructions for your next steps.
Once you complete any service hours, fill out the S.A.L.T. Service Hours Submission Form found on the Submit My Hours page.
