Our school relies on generous donations to bridge the gap between tuition and our budget, and our biggest fundraiser is the fall auction. Its success depends on all of us—helping with setup and cleanup, donating items or services, inviting others to participate, and attending to enjoy an evening that celebrates and supports our school.
Below are some ideas to help inspire you with some amazing things, experiences, or services you could donate!
Think about high-quality physical items (either hand-made or donated) that have a "wow" factor or high utility. Think about items you would enjoy going home with.
The "Ice Cream Social": A couple of glass sundae bowls, a bottle of gourmet chocolate sauce, sprinkles, maraschino cherries, and a gift card to a local grocery store for the ice cream.
The "Gardener's Starter": A hand-painted wooden crate containing heirloom seeds, a pair of gardening gloves, a small hand trowel, a kneeling pad, a functional watering can, and organic soil amendments.
The Ultimate Freezer Meal Kit: 5–10 high-quality, hand-prepped frozen meals (like lasagna, hearty soups, or casseroles) designed for busy families. Remember to ask about food preferences and allergies!
Hand-Poured Luxury Candles: A set of oversized soy wax candles in unique vessels (like vintage crocks or hand-turned wooden bowls) with custom-blended scents.
The "Cozy" Heirloom Quilt: A modern, high-contrast quilted throw or a chunky hand-knit wool blanket.
The "Artist’s Starter" Kit: A few sizes of canvas’, quality acrylic paint set, brush set, and how-to book to teach techniques and inspire ideas.
Personalized Stationery Set: 50 sheets of custom-stamped note cards and envelopes with the winner’s initials and a set of wax seals.
Think about what you can offer someone that money can't (or won’t) usually buy directly. Use your God-given gifts and passions to offer someone a memorable experience.
The "Bread-of-the-Month" Club: A commitment to deliver one loaf of homemade sourdough or other specialty bread to the winner's home once a month for a year.
A "Morning Treat" Delivery: A promise to deliver a dozen warm, homemade muffins or cinnamon rolls to the winner’s house on a Sunday morning of their choice.
The Staycation Retreat: A two-night stay at a nice local hotel paired with a gift certificate to a tasty local restaurant or enjoyable spa.
Family Photo Shoot: A full family session with a photographer (amateur or professional) at a scenic location, including digital files and a large canvas print.
Masterclass at Home: A donor who is an expert at a specific dish (sourdough, sushi rolling, or mocktail mixology) hosts a 2-hour "how-to" session for a small group of friends.
Progressive Dinner Party: A group of 3–4 neighbors each "hosts" a course. Bidders travel from one house for appetizers, the next for the main course, and a final stop for dessert.
Guided Nature Hike & Picnic: A local outdoor enthusiast leads a small group on a "hidden gem" trail, providing a packed lunch and knowledge of local flora/fauna.
Sunset Cruise or Boat Day: If someone owns a boat (pontoon, sailboat, or even a couple of kayaks), they can donate a 3-hour afternoon on the water with snacks and drinks.
The "Secret Garden" Tour: A donor with a spectacular private garden hosts a morning coffee or afternoon tea for a small group to tour the grounds.
Think about services you can offer that could save the buyer time or solve a "nagging" problem. A consultation, lawn care, or organizing – think about your strengths and lend them to others.
Pet Sitting or Dog Walking: A "gift certificate" for a weekend of pet sitting or five 30-minute dog walks.
Tech Support for Seniors: A 2-hour session to help someone set up their new phone, organize their digital photos, or clear out their email inbox.
Car Wash & Interior Detail: A thorough hand-wash and vacuum of the winner's car.
Music or Hobby Lesson: If a donor plays an instrument, knits, or codes, they can offer a 1-hour "Introduction to [Skill]" lesson.
Personal Grocery Shopper: Offer to do the grocery shopping and delivery for a winner for two weeks (winner pays for the groceries; donor provides the labor and delivery).
The "Wait-at-Home" Service: Offer to be at the winner's house to let in the plumber, cable guy, or furniture delivery person so the winner doesn't have to take a day off work.
Closet or Pantry Purge: Three hours of hands-on help sorting, decluttering, and organizing a specific area of the home.
Meal Prep Sunday: A donor comes to the winner's house and preps five "ready-to-cook" meals for the week using the winner's ingredients
