GREECE: 29th September - 3rd October 2025

This 5-day face to face mobility in Thessaloniki focuses on cultural exchange, heritage preservation, and digital skills, all through an inclusive lens. Participants will introduce their cultures, research local UNESCO World Heritage Sites and the impact of climate change, and create awareness materials using digital tools. The program includes a conference on heritage conservation, a creative writing activity envisioning the future of these sites, and a traditional dance workshop. The visit concludes with a meeting with local authorities to disseminate project results. Throughout the week, methods like discussions, workshops, group work, field trips, and brainstorming will lead to tangible outcomes such as a seminar, informative materials, and cultural displays.

The events will be held between 07-11/04/2025. The events will last 5 days.

2 teachers and 3 disadvantaged students from each country will participate.

Day 1

What an incredible start to our UNESCO heritage project in Greece! The energy here is amazing.

This morning kicked off with a wonderful welcome ceremony and our initial project meeting. Straight after, we dove into the "Introduce Your Culture" Event! It was amazing to see all the different countries setting up their stands, sharing their unique heritage, and proudly presenting their national UNESCO cities. So many stories and traditions in one room!

In the afternoon, our focus shifted to local art and sustainability. We started the Traditional Design workshop, researching beautiful traditional designs found here in Thessaloniki and brainstorming how to translate that inspiration onto reusable cotton tote bags. It's about blending the old with the new and making heritage wearable!

Ready for an amazing week exploring Greek history and heritage.

Day 2

Following or alongside the visits, participants will be tasked with active research focused on three key areas for each site:

History: Investigating the historical context, significance, and timeline of the sites.
Architectural Features: Analyzing and documenting the distinct structural and design elements of the architecture.
Documented Effects of Climate Change: Researching and gathering information on how climate change (e.g., extreme weather, temperature shifts, erosion) has demonstrably impacted the integrity and preservation of these specific heritage sites.

Day 3

Today our students will focus on a practical, public-facing workshop centered on digital communication and advocacy .

1. Material Production

Participants will actively prepare and produce informative materials designed to be disseminated to the public. These materials will leverage web-based presentation technologies (digital tools and platforms) to ensure they are engaging and easily shareable.

2. Focus and Theme

The central theme of the content they create will be: The importance of preserving cultural heritage in light of climate change.

3. Deliverables

The expected outputs for the workshop are diverse digital formats, allowing participants to choose or collaborate on materials such as:

Posters (digital designs)
Brochures (e-brochures or print-ready digital designs)
Short videos
Slides/Presentations
News-style reports or announcements
