The Spartan Food Pantry is a food assistance program offering dry goods, fresh produce, and refrigerated items to eligible SJSU students. Pantry users can visit the Pantry to receive food assistance once per calendar week.

SJSU Cares may assist you in applying for CalFresh Food. CalFresh Food, known federally as SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), provides a monthly cash supplement loaded onto a debit/EBT card to purchase groceries. CalFresh Food assistance has helped many students who are experiencing budget restraints.

CHEW (Cooking Healthy, Eating Well) classes are hands-on cooking workshops where students can gain the confidence and skills needed to cook at home. They aim to teach students how to prepare quick and easy meals using seasonal, low-cost ingredients.

The community garden is a place where students can learn and participate in the process of growing food sustainably, but it continues beyond there! Students can also harvest and enjoy organic, free, and locally-grown produce. This space provides a place for student initiative, cooperation, and cultural exchange using the growing of food as an exploration of community involvement.
