This course is going to give you an in-depth look at the challenges many youth face. Some may be experiencing sadness, or worry about school work, home life, or relationships. We will explore various psychological problems, including depression, anxiety, disordered eating, and behavioral issues that may impact a child or adolescent's development. We will look at these factors through various cultural lenses, including how family, environment, and health access impact services.
You will learn about mental health problems that children and adolescents are managing
You will examine current treatment options, limitations of our healthcare system, and school support services
You will leave this course with an action plan for advocating for youth in our diverse society

Our Canvas website will include online discussions, videos/films, and assignments.
Assignments include discussion posts, chapter quizzes, and written assignments.
