The Fielding School of Public Health is ranked number 8 (tied) in the country in public health by U.S. News & World Report in 2025 and has five academic departments — Biostatistics, Community Health Sciences, Environmental Health Sciences, Epidemiology and Health Policy and Management. The school offers seven degree types: BS, BA, MPH, MS, MHA, MDSH, and PhD, and ten concurrent or articulated degrees. 

The Master of Translational Medicine Degree is a Professional Masters and a place where students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to bring medical innovation from the engineer’s bench to the patient’s bedside.

Backed by two world-class institutions – the Department of Bioengineering at UC Berkeley and the Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences at UCSF – the program empowers students to explore and make new discoveries in the field.

As the oldest school of pharmacy in the West, the UCSF School of Pharmacy has a long history of accomplishment in science, patient care, and in training tomorrow’s PhD researchers and PharmD clinicians.

The School of Optometry trains Optometrists (ODs), vision researchers (PhDs) and houses a Eye Clinic and Eyewear Center. Students at the Herbert Wertheim School of Optometry & Vision Science not only become clinicians (OD) and researchers (PhD), but also complete our program with an understanding of the diseases they diagnose and the treatments they prescribe. We take pride in our ability to train technically proficient doctors and researchers who are also well educated in clinical and basic science.
