Participation in the Academy of Blended Learning as helped us improve our teaching strategies in a variety of ways. Working in small group rotations, allows students to learn at their own pace and allows us as teachers the opportunity to connect and support each child at their instructional level. The incorporation of technology and the use of adaptive programs provides extra support that will strengthen and challenge students appropriately. Through Blended Learning, we are able to gain an insight into each of our students’ individual strengths and needs giving us the opportunity to design a truly differentiated classroom environment for optimal growth and learning.

Project Based Learning
Gingerbread Unit: From December to January students explore gingerbread in a variety of project based activities. Students create and take home a Flat Gingy to participate in fun Christmas activities with them. Students write and illustrate a book with pictures and descriptions of their adventures with Gingy. In class, we explore a varitey of Gingerbread stories and participate in small group writing activities. We also conduct a varitey of science experiments as well as participate in math activities. This is such a fun way to kick off and conclude the holidays. Our Gingerbread unit seems to grow each year!
