Mystery Readers

October

To help us celebrate “Read-a-thon Week,” I invite parents, grandparents, or other special relatives to be our mystery guest readers for this week. You may bring along your favorite book (or two!) or read from our class library.

This is a fun activity that the kids really enjoy . You may come either in the morning right after assembly (or) at the end of the day around 2:30. Sign-up letters will be sent home 1 weeks before the event. I will include a link to sign-up as soon as the dates are confirmed.

Mission Helper Projects: Mission Helper Rep. Mrs. Rose Anthony

1. Bean Soup - Please help to make this project possible!

November

This project takes place 2 weeks before Thanksgiving. We collect a variety of beans from each family in the class and use them to assemble "Bean Soup Jars" . The class will donate the jars to the St. Vincent de Paul Pantry. This is a great way to teach our students about giving and being service minded members of our community.

The activity will take place during school time. We will accommodate the time to the parents that want to help in the class

We will need parents to :

  1. One (1) parent to help me coordinate the project. Coordinate and email volunteers: Rose Anthony

  2. One (1) parent to print the labels for the soup; (I will provide an example for the tag/ At home work)

  3. 1 parent to pack and seal the spices.

  4. One (1) parent to provide and cut fabric squares to decorate the jars; (I will provide a sample of the little square of fabric the students will need to prepare the decoration for the jars)_____________

  5. Three (3) parents inside the classroom on the day we assemble the jars

  6. The students will bring the beans and I will provide the jars.

First Grade's annual drive is always exciting! The 1st Graders collect over 200 baskets and then donate them to the Tri-City Shelter.

  1. We will need a parent to coordinate the project with me and the truck that comes to school to pick up all the baskets :
