May 14, 2024: Bondoc and Cristobal interviewed Ms. Melissa Cheok on the Science Bowl and Catholic Math League run this year:
Science Bowl:
Ms. Cheok, how did it feel to take such a big class about science? How did you feel about it?
It was fun. I learned a lot about science. I was very happy to see that the students were very interested in the topic.
Was it challenging for you to be the leader of the team?
Yes, there were times where it was challenging, but it was my first time.
Would you recommend Science Bowl for people who haven't done the elective yet?
Yes, I would recommend it to people who are actually interested in science.
Catholic Math League:
What do you enjoy about teaching students about Math?
For the Math League, I did not really teach them, I gave them tests helped them. They kind of just did it on their own actually.
How did you get into Math and getting into competitions?
I really liked math, and I enjoy the difficult competitions. It is great to teach the math equations to the children, especially middle schoolers.
Was it surprising that people were ranked nationally after the competition?
No not really, because there were kids that were really good at math because of how intelligent they are.
