ASPIRE II

Description:

ASPIRE 2 focuses on the Missouri Career Paths, Career Clusters, and Career Pathways. This course will expose students to a general knowledge of career opportunities available in each of the six career pathways. Students will analyze the connection between school and the workplace and identify the skills necessary for success. Tomorrow's jobs will require more knowledge, refined skills, and more flexible workers than ever before. Tomorrow's workers must be prepared to change jobs and careers several times, continually updating their knowledge and skills. ASPIRE 2 links what students learn in school with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in life.

ASPIRE 2 will focus on six career paths: arts & communication, health services, industrial & engineering technology, human services, natural resources agriculture, and business, management & technology. Each path will be broken into career clusters and eventually career pathways, giving students a narrowing view of each career area. Students will also continue to learn and refine the foundational knowledge and skills learned in ASPIRE 1.

Speakers for each of the career paths and/or career clusters will be invited to attend class and meet with students to discuss their careers. Students will discover and explore the foundational knowledge and skills related to each speaker's career and develop questions to guide their learning within that path/cluster.
