Location: Seattle Convention Center
The State Thespian Festival is an opportunity for Theatre students and teachers from across the state to gather and participate in clinics and workshops presented by local and national instructors. Students also have the opportunity to perform and watch performances from students across Washington State. Any high school student may attend; they do not need to be a thespian or have qualified at a regional event.
One of our goals is to become an Honor Troupe. Read more about it and let me know what ideas you have to help us reach this goal!
Last year, we brought a cutting of "The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical" to State and brought home a trophy, which we proudly pass each day on our way into FHHS. We would love to continue participating in this event. Read more about play cuttings and musical performances.
Four $1,000.00 scholarships will be awarded by the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) and Washington State Thespians. Scholarship applications are judged by an independent group of theatre advisors, who have no students in competition, for any Washington State Dana Brown Thespian Society Scholarships, the Petra Karr Student Leadership Scholarship, or the Chris Karr Technical Theatre Scholarship. The winners will be announced at the State Conference. All Dana Brown scholarship monies are handled by The International Thespian Society and are sent directly to the school identified by the scholarship winner at the beginning of the school’s fall term. The Petra and Chris Karr scholarship funds will be distributed to the student’s school from Washington State Thespians.
