Friday 25th June 2021 School Assembly - Let's Pray for Our World
One of the most exciting moments for our Form One students is finding out which of the four (4) houses they have been assigned to during their Induction Ceremony. This will be the House the student will belong to for her entire school life at St. Joseph's Convent St. Joseph! Our House System is invaluable to us in maintaining school spirit, school culture and discipline.
There are four houses :
Blessed Anne Marie House (GREEN),
Mary Immaculate Queen House (BLUE),
St. Joseph House (YELLOW) and
St. Maria Goretti House (RED).
House Meetings are called by student leaders - House Captains and Vice Captains with the support of House Masters and Mistresses (teachers). These meetings are usually held at least once per fortnight to plan for upcoming school activities such as Parang-Que, Sports Day, Aerobathon and Walkathon as well as to discuss other matters pertaining to school life.
Named after Blessed Anne Marie Javouhey, the foundress of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny.
Named after St. Mary, the mother of Jesus, especially honoured for her faithfulness to God, when she said "yes" to being the mother of Jesus.
Named after St. Joseph, the most chaste spouse of Mary, chosen by God to be the foster father of Jesus.
Named after St. Maria Goretti, a young girl who gave her life to Jesus and is the patron saint of young girls and rape victims.
The House Notes ceremony is designed to reward the success of students at Mid Term. It is grounded in student application and discipline. Based on the House System, students receive testimonials once they attain great academic performance. The higher the overall average, the more points the House gets. The House with the most points wins the trophy. Should a student receive a mark for discipline, order, attendance or punctuality, a testimonial will not be awarded and marks will be lost against the House.
