Who We Are

St. Joseph's Convent St. Joseph was founded in 1870 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny. Named after St. Joseph, foster father of Jesus and spouse of Mary, we began as a privately run school providing education for children of both primary and secondary levels with a student body of 300. However, today we are a seven year Government Assisted School, having attained that status in 1956. Our student body currently exceeds 700.

Our school has been for many years, one of the most outstanding schools in Trinidad and Tobago. The discipline, religious and moral character of our school, as well as its academic excellence and wide range of extra curricular activities have made St. Joseph's Convent, St. Joseph, a first choice school.

Over the years, improvements have taken place in accordance with the demands of modern education. In 1961, the first Sixth Form class was introduced and in 1970, a Fifth Form block was completed which houses the Physics Laboratory, Library, A.V. and Computer Rooms. In 1995, a Sixth Form block was built to facilitate an increased Advanced Level class. In 2013, an existing space was used to construct a modern Chemistry Laboratory.
