San Joaquin County Office of Education is going green! Join the network if you are an SJCOE employee and are interested in joining the organization-wide effort to implement sustainable practices. Some of our activities include hearing from experts on environmental topics, working towards the CA Green Ribbon Schools award for our county office, planning outdoor experiences for SJCOE families.

GEL Meetings

GEL met and learned about the health benefits of connecting with nature through nature journaling. Check out the slide deck and nature journal webpage by John Muir Laws for more information.
November 5th, 2021
GEL met with landscape architect Jeff Giambi and Teresa to learn about the environmental landscape design at the SJCOE. Next time you walk around the Transworld campus see if you can identify some of the native, native-friendly and drought resistance plants used in the landscape.
August 6th, 2021
GEL came together to review health and wellness at SJCOE. SJCOE Nurse Katie Nilsson joined as a guest speaker and talked about health at work and home.
GEL celebrated the amazing biodiversity of California by adding their favorite California native organism to the group slide deck and were invited to participate in coastal and delta clean-ups to support our local ecosystem.
