Personal Teaching Philosophy

My mission is to use the principles of transformational learning to reach my utmost potential as a citizen and educator; to leave a legacy of integrity and meaningful change that emphasizes and instills the importance of curiosity, educational autonomy, and respect towards oneself, others, and the world. I will perform this by acting as a positive, supportive, and encouraging instrument for progress in myself and others in my family and my community.

Enhance Knowledge

Express curiosity in pursuing the lifelong search for knowledge, awareness, personal growth, and experience.
Utilize knowledge for the advancement of society while being considerate of all things living and organic.
Communicate efficiently, articulately, and intelligently both verbally and in writing.
Prompt for deeper understanding by asking the essential questions more often than stating facts.
Keep a balanced and practical attitude and workload by establishing goals and timelines as a road map to success.
Reflect daily, ask for and accept all types of feedback and include suggestions in planning for positive change and personal growth.
Self-assess for further development and to solve issues in leadership, presentation, and the education environment.
Use technology and backward design as tools to incorporate the inclusive principles of Universal Design for Learning.

Be an Effective Leader & Supporter

Lead by example with integrity, using my evolving personal mission as a moral compass.
Utilize personal values as a framework for learning facilitation sans bias to encourage learners to formulate their own values.
Show honesty, kindness, fairness, respect, and justice by treating every person equally.
Foster a diverse, inclusive, and safe learning environment for all by communicating openly and honestly about feelings and providing time for learners to express their emotions.
Spread the warmth of kindness, love, and care by performing unexpected acts of kindness at least twice weekly.
Encourage the growth of all learners to flourish to their fullest potential through educational learning experiences.
Provide endless support, encouragement, and optimism by speaking with mentees at least once weekly to give heartfelt advice.
Express gratitude and admiration for others' personal worth, values, and contributions by providing compliments at least once daily.
Listen attentively, be empathetic, understanding, and open to new ideas by communicating with others about difficult and often uncomfortable topics.
Give learners the tools for lifelong learning by encouraging curiosity and autonomy in self-directed learning experiences.
Challenge myself and my learners in striving for excellence by setting high expectations for achievement and work quality.
Display the courage to selflessly stand up for students and their right to an education, regardless of authority or adversity.
Remain persistent, devoted, and tenacious until goals are complete and the job is done.
Take the time to be perceptive and observant of learner behaviors to identify and assist with their needs.
Converse with learners regularly to identify their interests and passions.
Inspire change through discussion and by sharing ideas and experiences.
Use creativity and my sense of humor make learning fun and intellectually stimulating.
Teach using the supplies of the world around me while displaying respect towards the protection and preservation of its finite resources.
Reflect confidence and poise while remaining humble.
Find joy and fulfillment in my work through daily reflection and expressions of gratitude.
