Prompt: Reflect on your first two courses so far. What do you feel you want to change? How will you encourage yourself to change?
After the first two courses, I'd like to correct the procrastination that is proving to be a common road block for me thus far. To counteract and alleviate these delays, I'll set stricter goals for myself and a more aggressive timeline to complete assignments. I'll make sure to plan for down time to include family events, relaxation time, wellness opportunities, leisure activities, and other potential obstacles that may arise to be realistic about the timeline for completing these goals. This corrective action will suffice as fitting the parameters for measurable objectives, and will be ready in preparing for the next course in the program (see below).
My biggest intrinsic motivator is concept mastery, which will help me to complete my unit assignments. I need to improve upon working in more time for activities that will also contribute to my personal wellness. After each assignment is submitted, I will further incentivize myself to continue through reward with an enjoyable leisure activity such as skiing. Additionally, while at work, I can try to better utilize down time by reading. Lastly, by reviewing my established goals for each course, refining my mission regularly, continuous problem-solving reflection, reminding myself for the reasons I'm involved in this program, and leaning on my support systems, I'll likely set myself up for success.
Besides the procrastination and delays, I feel my courses are going well and I've been happy with what I've learned as well as their outcomes. I feel after I complete each unit assignment that I have a firmer grasp on the topic, and reflection seems to further solidify these concepts. I also feel a sense of accomplishment and one step closer to my goals for completing the program. I enjoy discovering the connections from my assignments to the big picture of adult education, and from the program to my work. I am hopeful that I'll complete the program in a timely manner that also makes financial sense. I greatly look forward to building upon my current knowledge base to see what the next course will bring!
