This artifact shows business analysis tools being implemented strategically during the AE&T program at Saint Joseph's College, specifically using a fishbone diagram to break down problem statements into smaller parts, a SWOT analysis to determine organizational strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, and a logic model to determine inputs, outputs, and resources involved with a program within the organization. The artifact demonstrates my ability to think critically and logically think through the problems, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, inputs, and long- and short-term outcomes related to implementing a training program within a needs assessment. The artifact satisfies standard 2.2, “Describe the proposed solution’s intended impact on outputs, outcomes, or compliance,” most specifically through use of the logic model (International Society for Performance Improvement, 2017). These business analysis tools enhanced my leadership ability by solving problems on my own as well as how to field others’ thoughts on problems and articulate them in an organized way. Seeing these concepts written down informed the needs assessment and allowed a clearer and more direct formula for developing training programs. For improvement, I will use these tools as a foundation for asking colleagues for their input in an organized and accessible manner.
