The artifact is a literature review performed for the AE&T program at Saint Joseph's College on tutoring efficacy to prompt development of a training program for near-peer tutors at the Geisel School of Medicine. This artifact was included since it completes standard 1.1, “Conduct a study to determine a performance gap, need, or opportunity” in that it provides background research for the topic to prompt further understanding in what tutors need to know to be their best for their tutees, and provides information on future research opportunities for the school and current topics in adult education (International Society for Performance Improvement, 2017). The process for writing the literature review was a new concept for me and it was fascinating to cross-reference and organize articles by their findings. Some of the information discovered was unsurprising, while other information was novel. For improvement, I could continue building upon the literature review and think more critically about how this basic information can be used to create a comprehensive training and improve the direction in the future. Additionally, it can be updated with some of the newer articles found while writing the white paper for a later course.
