March 12th
While Pi day is March 14th (3/14), it falls on a Saturday, and SJB has conferences on 3/13. Therefore, we will be celebrating our Math holiday this year on 3/12. There will be games, prizes, fun, and of course, pi (PIE). Real pie. Students, make sure this is one day you do not miss. Staff, as always, you will be included. More to follow!! π 🥧
March 13th
Our Pi day was an overwhelming success. First, students had a chance to sample many different types of pies. Apple, Dutch Apple, Cherry, Pumpkin, Peach, Blueberry, and Strawberry Rhubarb. I had to get more at lunch!!
Then the real competition began. How far can a person memorize the decimal places of Pi? A total of 32 students from grades 5-8 attempted the test. We even had a teacher score an 18. Way to go, Ms. G.
The Top results are:
125 - Terezka (7) 118 - Kayla (8) 102 - Marylen (8)
91 - Ritta (8) 52 - Molly (7) 46 - Lucas (6)
42 - Aria (7) 33 - Alexa (7) 33 - Stefan (7)
I am sooooooooooooooooooooooo proud of all of them. However, in competition, there are winners. In this case, it was a lady sweep for the top 5.
Congratulations to everyone who participated and thanks for all the help from the entire staff. Pictures are below. π 🥧
Our Easter Egg hunt will follow Pi Day later in March. It is open to all ages following the 10 am mass. If attending, please use the school parking lot rather than the church, as it will be very busy for masses, and you could become blocked in.
A reminder will be sent home closer to the event. 🐰
