COVID-19 Specific Hand Cleaning Procedures (same as regular hand cleaning procedures, but COVID-branded)
Video from Public Health Ontario - https://youtu.be/sDUJ4CAYhpA
COVID-19 is spread by droplet transmission. Surgical face masks, eye protection, and gloves are the key pieces with a disposable gown where available. Hospital and clinic-based staff who provide routine care or screening activities are wearing surgical face masks. N95 masks are only required for specific health care practitioners providing care to infected individuals and performing aerosol-generating medical procedures as previously outlined.
Avoiding touching your face and regular hand hygiene remain very important in protecting yourself.
These recommendations are developed and informed by the guidelines released by the World health Organization, Public Health Ontario and the Public Health Agency of Canada.
Please do not attempt to source PPE from other branches. We have already collected information from around the province about what PPE is available and where. Please do not release any PPE to other branches or outside agencies and contact the Public Health Advisory Taskforce at coronavirus@sjaoc.ca if you receive a request to do so.
The cleaning instructions issued in Memo # 2 on January 31 remain valid, also available below.
In addition to the products listed there you may refer to this list for more options by product name. This list is not necessarily all inclusive and does not represent an endorsement of any one product over another, but it does provide the required "wet contact" time for each product and may assist in finding a suitable disinfectant for your unit.
