Information on current deployments may be found below. As the number of requests for SJA assistance increase the task force will review and revise the reporting structure and process as required.
All requests for SJA assistance must be reviewed and approved by the PHATF. The Provincial Emergency Management Coordinator is embedded in the task force and involved in these decisions. Requests should be forwarded to the task force at coronavirus@sjaoc.ca . If the operation is intended to commence in less than 24 hours please also contact the Provincial Emergency Pager at 1-888-249-8531.
To assist the task force in reviewing and processing requests it is important to obtain as much information as possible. This form (Updated July 19, 2021) should be completed by the local SJA branch making the request to the task force. This is an internal form for SJA use and should not be sent to the external agency.
For large COVID-19 related deployments, once your request is received you may receive a response requesting additional information as required. The task force will then review and either reject the request or approve it in principle. Once a request is approved in principle the local command team will be required to develop the Incident Action Plan and submit it for review and approval.
Once an operation is approved the incident commander will report to the task force and Provincial Emergency Management Coordinator at the specified intervals (generally daily) including providing an updated Incident Action Plan for the next operational cycle and sign-in forms.
No commitment of SJA resources may be made without approval from the task force.
Volunteers from the Peel-Dufferin branch are providing support services at Headwaters Hospital in Orangeville at their COVID assessment centre. Currently this deployment consists of 2 shifts of four volunteers every day and is being supported by the multiple CS units associated with the Peel-Dufferin Branch. Additional volunteers are not currently required.
Volunteers from the Halton Region Branch are currently providing pick-up services of community donations for their local hospital. Additional volunteers are not currently required.
As COVID-19 remains an ongoing health concern, it is important to ensure that our volunteers are healthy before participating in a community deployment. As such, a volunteer screening process has been in place that must be completed by every volunteer before each shift of volunteering. It involves answering a series of health , travel and contact questions. Anyone failing the screening will not be allowed to participate in any activity.
As of Monday July 19th, 2021 all member screening information and forms can be accessed here. This replaces previous versions of the screener.
