At St. Johnsbury Academy Jeju, we are committed to ensuring every aspect of your child’s education reflects the values of character, inquiry, and community, the cornerstone of our mission. Throughout this past year, we have listened closely to parents, students, and teachers in reviewing and reimagining our offerings to better support this mission. As a result, we are excited to announce an important update to our after-school programming. Beginning in the fall of the 2025–2026 school year, our After School Activities (ASAs) will transition into a newly designed and structured program called Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs). This change represents a renewed vision that reflects an intentional focus on aligning after-school learning with our values, student interests, and curricular goals.
Each Co-Curricular activity will be purposefully designed with clear goals and meaningful outcomes. Whether reinforcing academic learning, developing leadership skills, promoting community engagement, encouraging creative exploration, or celebrating student talents, each offering will contribute to a well-rounded and enriching experience beyond the classroom. Our updated program is organized into distinct categories that reflect this vision and support the diverse interests and needs of students across all grade levels.
Co-Curricular Activity Categories
Athletics
Seasonal team and individual sports that promote physical fitness, discipline, and teamwork across grade levels.
Cornerstone CCAs
Activities directly aligned with academic subjects or school initiatives. These offerings support students in deepening their understanding of curricular content through focused, guided experiences.
Extended Co-Curriculars
Opportunities for students to expand their academic interests beyond the classroom such as competitions, research-based clubs, advanced study, and enrichment programs.
Exploratory Co-Curriculars
A space for students to discover new passions, pursue personal interests, and take creative or entrepreneurial risks. These offerings often include arts, design, culture, media, and innovation.
Events Co-Curriculars (Middle & High School only)
Student-led or faculty-supported teams that organize school-wide events and initiatives. These experiences develop collaboration, planning, and public engagement skills.
Community Service Co-Curriculars (Middle & High School only)
Programs dedicated to service learning, volunteerism, and social responsibility, encouraging students to give back and grow as global citizens.
This framework supports consistency across divisions while allowing students to participate with greater purpose and continuity as they grow. The tiered model also supports progression, leadership development, and deeper engagement each season and throughout the school year. In addition, we recognize that there are times when external expertise can enhance our program, and we will thoughtfully partner with trusted providers to support student needs when appropriate.
We look forward to partnering with you and your child as we begin this next chapter in co-curricular learning. In preparation for this transition, surveys will be sent to both parents and students to gather feedback on current offerings and to learn more about the types of opportunities families would like to see added, whether student-led or teacher-facilitated. Your input will help us develop a more responsive and engaging program that reflects the interests and needs of our school community.
More detailed information about specific offerings, schedules, and registration will be shared before the start of the 2025–2026 school year.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us shape a meaningful and well-balanced educational experience for every student.
Best regards,
St. Johnsbury Academy Jeju
