Purpose: Alignment mirrors guide the laser beam through the system to ensure it reaches the Laser Head (see below) with full power.
Adjustment: The mirrors are carefully adjusted to reflect the beam accurately using tuning screws.
Contamination:
Dust and Debris: Particles from the environment can settle on the mirrors.
Damage:
Burn Marks: Laser beams can cause burn marks if the mirrors are dirty.
Scratches: Physical contact or improper cleaning methods can scratch the mirror surfaces. Do Not Touch The Mirrors
Coating Degradation: The reflective coating on mirrors can degrade over time due to exposure to the laser beam and environmental factors.
Misalignment:
Vibrations: External vibrations from nearby machinery or movement can knock mirrors out of alignment.
Thermal Expansion: Changes in temperature can cause the mirror mounts to expand or contract, leading to misalignment.

The laser head is the final part of the CO₂ laser system, it directs the laser beam onto your workpiece. It includes a focusing lens, a final mirror, and a nozzle through which the laser beam exits.
Our laser also includes a Z-Axis Sensor that sits behind the head.
Focusing Lens: This lens concentrates the laser beam to a fine point, increasing its power density for cutting or engraving.
Mirror: A final mirror in the laser head to direct the beam downward towards the workpiece.
Nozzle: The nozzle guides the focused laser beam onto the workpiece and often delivers assist gas (from the air compressor downstairs) to clear debris and improve cutting efficiency.

Lens Contamination:
Dust and Debris: Particles can accumulate on the lens, affecting the beam's focus.
Lens Damage:
Burn Marks: High-power laser beams can cause burn marks on a dirty or misaligned lens, this is why Air Assist is so important.
Scratches: Improper cleaning can scratch the lens surface, degrading performance.
Misalignment:
Beam Path: If the lens or mirrors in the laser head are misaligned, the beam may not focus correctly on the workpiece.
Nozzle Problems:
Blockages: The nozzle can become clogged with debris, affecting the assist gas flow and laser performance.
Reduced Cutting/Engraving Quality:
Focus Problems: Contaminated or damaged lenses can cause the laser beam to lose focus, reducing the precision and effectiveness of cutting or engraving.
Beam Scattering: A misaligned or damaged lens can scatter the beam, leading to uneven cuts or engravings.
Decreased Efficiency:
Power Loss: Problems with the laser head can cause a significant drop in laser power, making the system less efficient.
Slower Operations: Reduced performance may require slower cutting or engraving speeds.
