Machine Setup
Place the material securely on the laser bed.
Use fixtures or weights if necessary to prevent movement.
Focus and Alignment
Focus of the laser
See Focus
Align the laser starting point with the design origin.
See Positioning
Perform a small test cut on scrap material or an unused corner.
Check the test cut for accuracy and adjust settings if needed.
See Test Cut
Run the Job
Start the laser cutting process.
Monitor the job for issues (e.g., flames, misalignment).
The laser will change colour to a brighter white when a through cut is achieved
Confirmation and Removal
Visual Inspection
Inspect the cut lines for completeness and accuracy.
Ensure all parts are cut through the material.
Perform a 'tap-test' to confirm that all pieces have been cut through.
If you have doubts, run the cut path again.
Some materials, like acrylic, will have a backing that makes inspection difficult. Best to rerun your cuts with high speed and low power and perform a visual inspection.
Cooling Period
Allow the material to cool down before handling.
Removal from Bed
Carefully remove the cut parts from the laser bed.
Use tools if necessary to detach small or intricate pieces.
Final Inspection
Check for any remaining attachments or uncut areas.
Verify that all pieces meet the design specifications.
Clean Up
Clean the laser bed and surrounding area.
Dispose of or store excess material and scrap.
