First, be aware that many “superstores” and "Internet Stores" are selling “cheap” string instruments. The problem is that they are so cheap that much time is wasted fixing them. Even when they are fixed, they are very difficult to play. That leaves a student feeling like they are unable to play well, when, in fact, no one could play that instrument well. Please don’t put your child into that position!
Most of the Z-West Orchestra students rent, and eventually purchase their instruments from Paige's Music. Paige's provides a quality instrument for a reasonable price, and repair on that instrument for as long as you are using it. Paige's has a representative that visits Z-West every Monday to pick up broken instruments and deliver repaired instruments and supplies.
