Partnered with TerraVision, Zetel presented a Private LTE with Machine-Type-Communication solution to a Global Tier-1 mining company for their Coal mine sites in QLD. The user focused their requirements on low-power wide-area industrial wireless for data acquisition applications with a reasonably large amount of regular traffic over MQTT, which put other solutions like LoRa and Sigfox out of question. Carrier's NB-IoT was not suitable, due to coverage and also complication with enterprise network integration. Also, instead of a more expensive and restricted solution using LTE-M, TerraVision and Zetel designed a very much open-standard Private LTE with MTC, at a commodity cost to meet all technical and operational requirements defined by the user.
The 2nd half of year 2023 saw the successful deployment of this network fully into operation.
