Twelve people were killed and seventy others were injured, which was the largest number of casualties in a shooting in the United States[3] until the 2016 Orlando nightclub shooting. The sole assailant, James Eagan Holmes, was arrested in his car parked outside the cinema minutes later. It was the deadliest shooting in Colorado since the Columbine High School massacre in 1999. Prior to the shooting, Holmes rigged his apartment with homemade explosives, which were defused by a bomb squad one day after the shooting.

Brian was born on March 21, 1963, in Watertown, the son of Dennis and Elizabeth (Lillich) Walsh, and was a lifelong resident of the town of Clyman. On April 11, 1987, he married Carla Pfister at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Watertown. He was co-owner of Detjen’s Northern Trails.
Brian was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed camping with his family and friends and was an avid fan of the Packers, Brewers and Badgers and a sponsor of local sports teams. Brian gave his all to helping and supporting his family and friends and running his business.
Brian is survived by Carla, his wife of 29 years; their children Jason (Callie Knaeble), Emily (Andrew Perkins), Meghan (Patrick Klavekoske) and Courtney; his loving father Dennis and his siblings Dan (Evonne), Diane (Walsh) Haseleu and Jeff (Margie). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his mother Betty and his brother Kevin.

I now believe that if I had asked an even simpler question — such as, What do you mean by mass, or acceleration, which is the scientific equivalent of saying, Can you read? — not more than one in ten of the highly educated would have felt that I was speaking the same language. So the great edifice of modern physics goes up, and the majority of the cleverest people in the western world have about as much insight into it as their neolithic ancestors would have had.[5]
