Crain's Chicago Business
Margaret Ann “Maggie” Corbett was the youngest child of seven, and the only girl, born to Patrick and Elizabeth Corbett in Mount Lebanon, Pa., a Pittsburgh suburb. Her father owned an auto-parts store. She graduated from the University of Dayton in Ohio before moving to Chicago to work in Xerox's management training program.
She met her future husband at a holiday party when he was an up-and-coming attorney, and they married on March 25, 1972, in Pennsylvania. They honeymooned in Europe. While there, they attended a service with thousands of others at the Vatican. In a rare moment, Pope Paul VI congratulated them on their marriage.
Through the years as first lady, Ms. Daley traveled the world with her husband. In 2006, she went to Jordan, Israel and India. In 2009, she joined the Chicago contingent that flew to Copenhagen for the selection meetings of the 2016 Summer Games

Chai Soua Vang (born September 24, 1968) is a Hmong American from Laos who was convicted of murder. Vang shot eight people while on a hunting trip in northern Wisconsin on November 21, 2004; six were killed and two were left wounded.
Vang acknowledged shooting the people, but challenged the chain of events that caused a dispute over a deer stand to become violent and escalate into multiple deaths. Vang, who lived in Saint Paul, Minnesota at the time of the shootings, is imprisoned at the Anamosa State Penitentiary.[1]

The 2013 Boston Marathon took place in Boston, Massachusetts on Monday April 15, 2013. It was the 117th edition of the mass-participation marathon. Organized by the Boston Athletic Association, it was the second of the World Marathon Majors series to be held in 2013.
Over 23,000 runners participated. Lelisa Desisa won the men's division with a time of 2:10:22. Rita Jeptoo won the women's division with a time of 2:26:25. More than $800,000 of prize money was awarded.[1]
The marathon was disrupted by two consecutive explosions on the sidewalk near the finish line, killing three spectators and injuring 264 others.[2] The race was halted, preventing many from finishing. The explosions, later revealed to be bombings, received widespread international media attention.

Wikipedia
The Two Cultures is the title of the first part of an influential 1959 Rede Lecture by British scientist and novelist C. P. Snow. Its thesis was that "the intellectual life of the whole of western society" was split into the titular two cultures — namely the sciences and the humanities — and that this was a major hindrance to solving the world's problems. ...
The lecture - Implications and influence - Antecedents - See also
Snow's position can be summed up by an often-repeated part of the essay:
A good many times I have been present at gatherings of people who, by the standards of the traditional culture, are thought highly educated and who have with considerable gusto been expressing their incredulity at the illiteracy of scientists. Once or twice I have been provoked and have asked the company how many of them could describe the Second Law of Thermodynamics. The response was cold: it was also negative. Yet I was asking something which is the scientific equivalent of: Have you read a work of Shakespeare’s?[5]
I now believe that if I had asked an even simpler question — such as, What do you mean by mass, or acceleration, which is the scientific equivalent of saying, Can you read? — not more than one in ten of the highly educated would have felt that I was speaking the same language. So the great edifice of modern physics goes up, and the majority of the cleverest people in the western world have about as much insight into it as their neolithic ancestors would have had.[5]
