FOR SUPERVISORS

AmeriCorps members get things done in our communities by serving alongside and with the guidance of staff at premier non-profit agencies.

Supervising an AmeriCorps member comes with certain expectations and responsibilities, and hopefully this page will address most of your needs and questions regarding hosting a member at your service site.

**Remember, not only are you supervising, leading, and guiding the members through their year of service, but you are also the "first line of defense" for staff helping us review OnCorps timesheets, ensure that no prohibited or unallowable activities are occurring, and that members are representing AmeriCorps and the Building Communities, Bettering Lives program well (wearing buttons or AmeriCorps shirts every day, not using words like "work, job, boss, working, etc.).**

This page provides information for current supervisors of members serving in the YWCA Central Alabama Building Communities, Bettering Lives AmeriCorps program. If you have any issues give us a call at (205) 322-9922 or email us.

Outside Service Policy and Process

Outside service is a great way for members to accrue extra hours while serving their community in different capacities and increasing their network! Remember, outside service cannot be done during normal business hours and it must be pre-approved by both AmeriCorps staff and member's supervisor. Review the policy above for more information. Sites can request additional member assistance by creating an Outside Service Opportunity. Contact Ty (tjackson@ywcabham.org) for more information. Members should use the following forms to get their service approved and track their time:
