What do you mean by "not supported" ? Customers with a support contract may be required to reproduce an issue encountered on Windows XP on a later version of Windows, and if the issue is specific to Windows XP Oracle is not required to (and may be unable to) issue a patch or a workaround.
In Windows XP environment:
Currently, Java version 8 install and or update results in this dialog pop-up@: "Java 8 requires a newer version of Windows..."
An answer to above dilemma follows:
Java SE Runtime Environment 7 Downloads*
Windows XP operating system: If you have not installed Java version 8 or later Java versions, I suggest you use the above link-page* and download an offline version 7 of Java, install when and if necessary, where you will not get the aforementioned dialog pop-up@, also for any later use keep this copy in storage/archive.
What I use, for Windows XP x32, on link-page*: Java SE Runtime Environment 7u76: Windows x86 Offline, 28.12 MB, jre-7u76-windows-i586.exe
In Summary:
I, Jerry Cantu, reason that since Microsoft and Oracle Corporation (owner of Java) are enterprise partners (Terms of the deal were not disclosed), a non-disclosure agreement might/probably ensue Java to promote Microsoft newer Windows versions, i.e., in aforementioned link reads, "Microsoft will also offer Java...", this said enterprise partnership equates better marketing/money income strategy, smart on their part, disadvantageous to individuals wanting to get their monies worth out of their current system of Microsoft Windows XP and or are currently unable to afford a new Windows System.
Further advice: Always, install and keep your system security software updated to guard against what malware, that might be created to further promote getting a newer Microsoft Operating System.
In Conclusion:
As a Windows XP user I do not want to update my Java 7 to Java 8 or later versions of Java, so I apply as seen below:
