Allergies, Sinus and Asthma

3/14/2019

My son is doing great! He is in college, in Florida. No medications of any sort.

This climate has always been the best for him.

He understands the harmful effects of medications, and is working on improving his diet.

Last year was horrible for him in Charleston, South Carolina. He lived on campus and out, both places having mold, black and white respectively. My hair turned white when I learnt about it.

He threw up in the mornings, his digestive organs affected, and his immune system weakened.

It was a long battle to get him back. Most importantly, he needed to leave Charleston, which floods every year.

To fix his digestion, I gave him TummyGize. For relaxation, smoking marijuana worked best for him.

Adding gentle fiber with essential oils from the Juva Power, which he took at night, was the last piece in the puzzle.

I am learning Chinese Aromatherapy. The author, Dennis Willmont, writes that primerose is most appropreate carrier oil for the lungs.

6/2015 - update

My son is a teenager, and sometimes he allows me to put essential oils on him, and sometimes not.

Luckily, at least he takes Inner Defense and Longevity capsules.

Last time, when he had inflammation of the lungs, I gently applied some Valerian on his spine and lungs, Helichrysum, and Myrrh (not at once). Later on, I used Breath Again on his lungs (very little), and other stronger oils on his feet. The next morning there was a substantial improvement.

Depending on how much you do, you can get well in a day, a few days, or at your pace.

This is what I use for my son when he gets sick. This is just a quick summary. For in-depth information, please read the whole file and Healing Story #2.

Every hour:

1. For cough - RC + Frankincense (2:1) (2 drops of RC and 1 drop of Frankincense) on the throat & chest, and in the diffuser (or Roman Chamomile )

2. Raven + RC on lung reflexes on his feet (alternate)

Capsules:

3. OmegaGize in the morning plus my own capsule of Tea tree and Copaiba

4. Longevity and InnerDefence (during the day)

5. Tea tree and Copaiba at night

6. VitaFlex on his feet and Raindrop on his back - once a day

7. For lung relaxation (emotional and physical): Peace and Calming, Valerian, or RutaVala and Relieve it - on the spine and back, or AromaSeiz

8. On feet - ImmuPower, Purification

9. For sinus - Breath Again roll on

10. Enema, suppository and a light diet (grapefruit works best for him)

If he resorts to using nebulizer, I use JuvaFlex) to support his liver, kidneys (Juniper), lymph (purification), and endocrine (endoflex) system

Another simplified protocol for a cold, which resulted from fear:

1. Purification on feet

2. Capsules with tea tree with Eucalyptus Radiata, Frankincense with Raven

3. Eucalyptus Radiata on the reflex points on his feet and on his back and chest

4. Valerian on his back and spine, and in diffuser

I constantly try to collect all the useful info for the above conditions.

Here is the new tip from someone who suffered asthma:

Hi Barbara,

Just curious, did it help your asthma attack, or that was not the purpose of you

taking Frankincense?

Thanks.

Eugeniya

Hi Eugeniya,

Yes, the purpose was to relieve my severe asthma. A drop under the tongue

relieves the chest tightness and loosens everything up in a few moments for me.

Frankincense was a God send to me when my rescue inhaler no longer worked from

over use. Now, I can't remember the last time I even used an inhaler.

Blessings,

Barb

I used Barbara's advise for Eric.

"We know that this influenza goes deeply into the lungs. Gary Young teaches us that we can take

our blend RC (respiratory & congestion) and drive it deeper into the lower lobes of the lungs by

adding Spruce. To drive the oils to the upper lobes, use Pine. Respiratory oils – any of the

Eucalyptus oils, RC, Raven, Peppermint, Ravensara, Lavender, Lemon, Spruce, Pine, Idaho Balsam

Fir, Frankincense, Believe or our newest Ecuadorian oil, Eucalyptus Blue are all effective in

respiratory support."

1/23/2003 - just watched Mercola video on putting a cap-full of hydrogen peroxide into your ears, one at a time (tilt your head).

Please familiarize yourself with the material presented in

Using oils for different conditions before reading this page.

Additionally, please refer to copies from EDR I attached below.

As far as the emotional aspect of getting sinus problems, according to Louise L. Hay, it is caused by "Irritation with one person, someone close." To help yourself, she suggests meditation, stating the following:

"I declare peace and harmony indwell me and surround me at all times. All is well."

Now about the physical aspects...

"When detoxification functions are taxed or stressed, the overload of toxins are diverted towards mucus membranes and other emergency elimination sites. This discharge through the mucus membranes provides a virtual breeding ground for the proliferation of bacteria, bacterial infection and inflammatory reactions (in the sinuses, bronchi and elsewhere).

Unfortunately, my son has had asthma for over 3 years. Over the years I tried many different therapies, however none had such a strong and quick health balancing effect as Young Living essential oils. Protocol that I used was: Vita-flex on his feet, Raindrop on his spine & diffusing RC and Raven interchangeably with Frankincense (2:1 ratio). Retention enema with the above oils was extremely useful as well. I also used emotional release essential oils to balance his emotions, such as Release and Trauma Life.

I discovered that putting Peace and Calming, followed by Peppermint, on his back, spine, chest, neck & VitaFlex on his feet worked almost instantaneously to release the tension in his lungs. I also like to put Valor on his shoulders & feet.

The following sequence felt warm & relaxing to my son: Raven, Frankincence, Marjoram & Wintergreen - on his back, spine, chest, between ribs, neck arteries & VitaFlex on his feet

I discovered another helpful oils for my son. One night, after being well for quite a long time, he came to my bed at night with the the old dreaded "Mom, it's hard to breath. I want to sleep. Give me the inhaler". Luckily, my son gave me a few minutes to work on him - I had to be quick - he was not willing to wait. I used Wintergreen and Marjoram on his feet and his chest and spine, Juvaflex on his liver, and then RutaVala for relaxation, Melaleuca Alternifolia, and RC with Frankincense. I finished up with Peppermint and Copaiba. After this, my son agreed to go to sleep without the inhaler, and in about 10 minutes or less, he fell asleep, changing his position from sitting to lying down. The next morning he told me that he felt fine, and that it was just one bad night.

For cough, from http://eugeniyamusic.blogspot.com/2012/12/keeping-candida-under-control.html

•Eucalyptus Blue can be used for respiratory viral infections like (SARS),pneumonia and new mutations, other respiratory problems. Pneumonia is a form of Candida.

Coughing is related to Candida - use 10 drops Eucalyptus Blue to open the lungs and throat.

From one of my friends who finally began to Think Oils First!

I am so dang fed up with starting each day congested and breathing hard. Went to my oils and pulled out Helichrysum, Purification & Eucalyptus. Rubbed a few drops of each on my chest/throat. Within a minute I was clear and breathing very well.

It's a half hour later and am still clear! Worked every bit as good as an inhaler and is probably doing a whole lot more as it soaks in. I had been reading an article you sent about Purification when it dawned on me to try some oils. I don't know how I come up with the combinations that I do but I'm sure grateful when they work! Not only breathing well but really deeply for the first time since all of this started.

Just a little Happy Oiler News from TX!

My comments

Interesting combination of oils. Eucalyptus is very good for sinuses and lungs, Helichrysum is a good anti-spasmodic, reduces pain and inflammation, Purification is a great blend, which includes Tea Tree (for fungus) and Lemongrass (for lymph cleanse), Rosemary,

Myrtle and other great oils for immune system.

Re: Sinus Infection help

hello friends,

I'm struggling with a sinus infection. can you please guide me thru

oils/supplements I should be using? with my limited/new knowledge of oils, I

m taking theives, inner defense, peppermint on my head and lots of garlic,

vitamin D and C and A internally.

thank you

Laura Davis

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Laura,
For sinus infection that has reall work for me is taking 2
00 capsule of Exodus II and put Eucalyptus Blue on the
balls of the feet and then all over the feet following the
Thieves. I also apply to the chest. Those go into the
vocal cavity and breaks up the mucus.
It will even clear up mucus that comes from drainage
from the sinus overnight that is not infected in 2 days.
Very Very powerful
God Bless, Nancy Sanderson
Hello oilers!
Yes, garlic cloves are amazing to pull out infection and gain relief. We have
also used RC blend, filled capsules with lemon oil 3x's a day and the breathe
again roll on. Another thing you can do is cut an onion in half and set it in
the room, it will draw infection to it and youll actually see it!!
Helen
Hi Augustines and Oilers,
A peeled clove in each ear secured with a headband, has healed our sinuses, pink
eye and ear infections, not to mention it has staunched colds and flu.
I also lean heavily on YL Oregano and oregano capsules.
Maria
Hi Maria and Friends,
I also am dealing with an on coming sinus infection. I have never heard of
the garlic clove in the ear.
"Also a garlic clove in each ear"
Would you please explain further? Do you actually place a clove in each ear
canal? If so, for how long a time period?
My comment: I remember my friend, Boris, used to put garlic cloves in his nose.
I tried it too. I did not do anything for me, though it sounds like a good advise. I remember, my nose would get irritated from the garlic.
Hi Laura and YLEO Friends,
Try using a neti pot with purified water and sea-salt and I would use a couple
of depos of Eucalyptus Blue too.
Also a garlic clove in each ear and chiropractor adjustments are good too.
Feel better!!
Maria
Dear Laura,
I hope you're feeling better by now. If not, I would use Melaleuca Alternifolia (tea tree) for Candida, definitely would do an enema or a suppository, would watch my diet, use an oil for emotional support (more important than anything else you'll do!), and tell yourself, that you're not sick, use other positive thoughts, & you'll see, you'll feel better soon.
I have lots more info on my web site, if you like:
"Rub a bit of peppermint on the roof of your mouth and your sinuses will drain
completely!"
Posted at http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/PineHillGroup/message/37944
Dear Deb & YlOilers Everywhere,
Just a few changes & additions have changed my winter health
forever!
Whenever I feel that "uh oh!" -stuff is draining down the back of my throat-
feeling, or even body aches, sore throat, or sneezing & coughing begins, I apply
Purification with my finger just slightly inside the nose.
>Here's the trick. Put a drop -neat- (unless you have a painful nose from
blowing, then dilute a bit w V6 or olive oil) in the left palm, stir with the
right index finger. Then, using thumb & index finger (keep index finger on the
inside of the nose each time by just twist-adjusting your hand up or down),
simply gently pinch the left outside wall, then the middle cartilage, and the
right outside wall of the nose. Repeat again with more oil from your palm. When
the oil is gone from the hand, take deep breaths of the hands, cupping them like
an inhaler. We usually feel better by morning. If not, repeat! This costs a
penny or two, and may be repeated as needed. This works much like the Zycam
swabs that were discontinued by the FDA.
Gently pinching the nostrils prevents delivering the Purification too deep into
the nostril. (That is NOT a good idea!) Just like the old Zycam swabs, the
instruction is to deliver 1/8 of an inch into the nose on the inside of the
outer wall of each nostril. I like the "pinching" technique, but one may also
use a q-tip and deliver Purification to the inside of the outer nasal walls in
each nostril.
This, coupled with thieves spray to the back of the throat at the first sign of
"a bug" (Yeah it's intense, but better than suffering with a sinus infection or
a debilitating pneumonia cough for weeks on end) and I also use inner defense (1
with each meal for a day or two if I sense it is really "something").
The other preventative I use daily is vitamin D3 (5000). This is the flu
preventative dosage; this, in my opinion, is worlds safer than the flu shot
(don't get me started!), and infinitely more effective! Many natural health
practitioners say D3 is a necessity for people living north of the Mason Dixon
Line.
I supplement with D3 almost daily, whenever I feel ill, but especially in the
fall & winter unless I am taking a daily walk. I also take (with food!) 50 mg
of Zinc if anyone around me is sick, and continue for a few days, especially if
I feel something coming on, or if I get sick....
These little changes have saved me so many times from getting any number of
terrible illnesses that swirl around us. As a Mom, teacher, counselor &
professional singer, this knowledge has been invaluable to me.
Blessings!
My motto~Oils in Every Home!
Most health problems stem from our negative feelings. Here is an interesting information about the formic acid we secrete when in fear.
From The Chemistry Of Essential Oils Made Simple by David Stewart
Formic acid is a burning toxin in some ant bites and wasp stings as well as the sting in stinging nettles. As for its fragrance, it is pungent to say the least. One whiff of formic acid and your eyes will water, your nose will run, your throat will burn, you will start coughing, and you'll probably get sick to your stomach.
You may have noticed that people who are afraid of bees and hornets are more likely to be stung than those who are not. This is because formic acid acts like an alarm pheromone to certain stinging insects and drives them into an attack frenzy to protect their territory. Since you secrete traces of formic acid in your sweat when you feel scared, fear of stinging insects can actually draw them to attack you.
End of the article
There are many ways to get better. Below is a copy of the letter I sent to a friend of my uncle's and 2 great articles from Younglivingcircleblog.
I have tried for many years different therapies for my son: acupressure, homeopathy, enemas, many herbal products & essential oils. However, I never saw results as quick and effective as with Young Living.
When I did Vitaflex (put oils in a specified order on my son’s spine reflex on his feet), then Raindrop on his spine & covered him with a hot towel, then diffused 2 drops of Frankincense mixed with 1 drop of Raven, his mucous poured out thru the night like an open faucet.
When he got sick this year, he stayed home only for 2 days – last year he missed months.
Not adding mucous to your body every day will help immensely (I would like to know what you drink & eat, so I can help you make some changes, if you like).
We discussed many subjects over the phone, but probably not everything. If you have any questions, please call.
Here is the introduction to essential oils:
This is what I would do:
  1. Cleanse the colon before going on a lemon cleanse (Master cleanse)
By cleansing the colon you cleanse all the organs of your body. Then it is easier to go on the lemon cleanse – less toxins will go into your blood stream & organs of elimination.
Print out 2 documents attached on the following page:
https://sites.google.com/site/younglivingeu/home/using-oils-for-different-problems/colon-hydrotherapy-cleanse
  1. Do you juice? Fresh made juice is excellent for nutrition and cleansing. Wheat grass juice & aloe (only fresh-made). Try to add lemon, or drink afterwards.
http://eugeniyamusic.blogspot.com/2013/01/the-greatest-weight-loss-myth-ever-told.html
  1. Do you have a sinus problem?
  2. Sea salt baths daily with Thieves oil in the tub & apple cider vinegar – skin is the largest organ for detoxification
  3. Young Living oils: cleanse, rebuild, and help with your emotions:
Following oils are great: Raven (lungs), RC(sinus), Basil(muscle release), Thyme(muscle relase & break up mucous), and Frankincense (works like a steroid), Believe (helps you open up your mind), Peppermint (anti-mucous, anti-bacterial) and Eucaliptus (opens up lungs, decongests). Start by putting them on your feet – the spine and lung/bronchi areas.
Here is the foot chart:
http://www.younglivingworld.com/MainFrame.asp?BodyFrame=resources/problems_main.asp
Click on Free Training, then Vita Flex Technique, then on "Vita Flex Foot Chart."
It is good to put the oils on your spine to detox the whole body & re-build cells.
Put 1 drop of Thieves oil in a glass of water or hot tea
  1. Do Buteyko:
under Breathing & Cough
This is one of them – you can practice with the boy:
  1. Lemon cleanse
You’ll need salt (without iodine), cayenne pepper, molasses, and herbal tea. Please read the instructions below.
Even if you don’t go on it completely right away, drink lemon with cayenne pepper anyway. Salt is good too.
print all the way to page 17
http://healthandlight.com/mastercleanse.pdf
What salt do you use at home?
  1. Candida – Thieves oil (1 drop in a glass of water or tea, etc.) – works immediately. I take it often.
And coconut oil
From
http://www.warrior-priestess.com/essential%20oils%20stories/candida.html
I have had success dealing with Candida by eating therapeutic amounts of virgin coconut oil. I used to have vaginal symptoms as well as all kinds of systemic ones and since I've been eating the VCO, it is a night and day difference. The first couple of weeks on the oil, I had bad die-off symptoms but then it all cleared up and it's been great! And it's getting my thyroid in balance.
  1. Kefir and organic raw apple cider vinegar ( start with 1 table spoon in 1 glass of water, add lemon), plus other fermented foods. For example miso, sauerkraut, etc.
I drink lemon and kefir whenever I feel a need to break up the mucous or digest too much food I’ve eaten.
By the way, Young Living has a great oil for that: Di-gize:
My E-mail to my friends:
Last night I was a happy Mom – my son was sleeping without any problems. And this morning I got a call from my husband, congratulating both, my son & I, with getting well.
After having anxiety about midterms, fueled by my husband’s decision to take away the X Box in case of bad math score, my son, Joseph, got a sore throat. He was recuperating quickly, when we had an unfortunate circumstance to run into our neighbor, who made a huge mistake of reminding my son about the consequences of having “asthma” after a cold. My son’s sore throat by then was gone & he was almost well. However, my well-meaning neighbor brought back old memories and fears, and long and behold, my son got really sick & used inhaler that night twice! It probably did not help either, that he played basketball that night and used his inhaler twice there. I was not happy to say the least; however, we had to deal with it. Being so sick, just like the old times, and that’s after he was doing so well for such a long time. That was on Sunday night. On Monday night Joseph used his inhaler once to go to sleep. And that was it. Today, Thursday, he went to school, feeling well and sleeping like a baby thru the night!
What did Joseph and I do to get well? Vita Flex on his feet a few times a day, diffused RC, Raven and Thyme, used individual oils on his Vita Flex on lung areas, RC on his throat, Raindrop, took ImmuPower, Copaiba (2 drops in a capsule) and topically, Frankincense mixed with RC (1 to 2), BreathAgain between his ribs, drank Lemon essential oil(2-3 drops in ½-1 glass of water with freshly squeezed lemon, had hot water with salt in the morning, JuvaFlex on his liver (front and back), baths with sea salt and Thieves, essential oils retention enemas (once with RC & Frankincense, and once with Copaiba – 2 table spoons of V6 mixed with 14 drops) . Joseph ate many grapefruit and stayed away from computer and X Box most of the time and even did a few exercises for his lungs! When he felt cold and too mucous, I put Cinnamon or Wintergreen on his chest, back and feet. Basil and Marjoram, as well as Peace and Calming, followed by Peppermint was used a few times as well.
A lot of work in a short time – and it paid off!!! I just hope that he learned a lesson from all this.
Here is a suggestion I read in on-line PineHillGroup@Yahho.com about using oils for Sinus/mucous::
"Some of those oils are Copaiba and Hyssop. He can try taking a capsule of half and half
Lavender and German Chamomile which according to Gary are powerful
antihistamines.
There is a blend for sinus conditions which my family has used successfully for many years -- 10 drops Peppermint, 5 drops Eucalyptus Radiata and 2-3 drops Tea Tree diluted 50/50 with a carrier oil. Apply 1-2 drops to a cotton swab and swab inside of nostrils 3 times daily."
(Lung airway impairment) I was diagnosed with COPD 4 years ago and being
slightly stubborn, I refused to accept the diagnosis. I did not smoke, did
not drink and still do not. After hearing what the doctor diagnosed me
with, I went the traditional medical route of medications and steroids,
which did nothing to improve my situation based on pulmonary testing. My
lowest point was 65% lung capacity and a base oxygen rate of 92% during my
pregnancy with my healthy 16 month old son. After my son was born, I
realized that if I wanted to be around to see him grow up and be the healthy
and involved kind of mother I wanted to be, something had to change.
So 15 months ago I changed my diet drastically, cutting out 90% of all wheat
and dairy products. I stopped ingesting white sugar. I started drinking
water instead of Dr. Pepper. I restricted my intake of red meat and
increased my intake of vegetables and whole foods. I based all this
information on the book Eat Right for Your Blood Type. I started taking
supplements that would help support my immune and respiratory system,
primarily a multi-vitamin, probiotic, extra Vitamin E and minerals. Then I
rediscovered aromatherapy. About the time of my diagnosis, I was learning
about aromatherapy from an acquaintance who was a YL distributor. Sadly,
she did not share the YL opportunity with me at that time. If she had - it
might not have taken me four years to return to health! After nearly a year
of changing my diet, my pulmonology test results were 74% lung capacity and
96% blood oxygen. (Nov. 2003)
As I was increasing my health through a better diet, I stumbled upon my oils
I had purchased in the past (some YL, some not) and went to work anew on the
research of their properties and possibilities. That research led me back
to YL, where I discovered more information to help with my diet and health
goals.
I signed up as a distributor, purchased a slew of oils and supplements. I
started cleansing my liver and focusing on acid binding foods, continuing to
stay away from the same bad things like wheat, white sugar and dairy.
I now carry Frankincense with me everywhere. I started putting Frankincense
on my chest before going to bed at night and inhaling it and applying it
anytime I started to cough or feel tightness in my chest. Before my
Frankincense days began, I was taking a nebulizer with toxic medication 2 -
3 times a day and was so dependent on it that it went with me everywhere I
went - to the store, to church, to work.
I have been using Frankincense religiously since December 2003. It is now
March 2004 and I had a pulmonology test last week. I tested at 102% large
airway lung capacity and 99% blood oxygen. I have not used my nebulizer in
over a month. I went to work today and realized after about 6 hours that I
forgot to bring it with me! I use lots of other oils in the course of a
day, but my Frankincense is my most prized oil and the one I always have
with me. I had 90% scarring in one lung from several bouts with pneumonia
and the doctors were amazed that my lung has regenerated itself so that most
of the scar tissue is gone. When they asked what I had been doing, I told
them I changed my diet, used Frankincense and weaned myself from my
medications. The looks on their faces were priceless - I went from a
beloved patient (after all, they did see me quite frequently) to "one of
those alternative health weirdoes" in about three seconds!
I hope this miracle story encourages someone you love. I truly believe my
recovery is miraculous and I am so thankful for Gary Young and his
dedication to the health and well being of others! And please share YL with
others - you never know who might need a miracle!
April
I forgot to mention one important thing that Gary Young said about anything
to do with lungs. He said to do a rectal implant which I did and found
relief of my symptoms within seconds. I purchased Fleet enema which I
emptied and rinsed out and filled with V-6 and several oils. I did the
rectal implant prior to going to sleep at night and did this for several
months. It was probably the most important thing I did for my COPD
symptoms. Caroline
I had some miracles with the oils and respiratory conditions with the use of
Di-Gize, Raven, Thieves, RC and at night-Trauma Life in a capsule! A
capsule of Thieves and Di-Gize. At night, add Trauma Life to capsule.
Diffuse RC and Raven. Rub on lung points on feet. Take capsules. The
capsules of Thieves and Di-Gize were of key importance. Many breathing
conditions are connected to the digestion. In 5 years, no inhalers, no
tablets. Only 1 quick trip to ER for a bad asthma attack! Also, rub hands
and ears. Penny
And also some on quitting smoking...
I put on Valor followed by Harmony and almost immediately had no desire to
smoke. I even tried to keep smoking and not only did the cigarettes taste
horrible, but the mental and emotional disparity between poisoning myself
with cigarettes and these beautiful healthful essential oils was so striking
I had to stop. I've quit more times than I can count and this was probably
the first time I was able to stop cold turkey with almost no emotional and
physical withdrawal. I went through a bottle of Harmony in the first 10
days and lots of Valor, Grounding and some White Angelica. A drop of
Thieves under the tongue helps a lot and has worked even in people who have
smoked for many years. Diane
I have heard Jean-Marie Freidman say that she used Peace and Calming to help
her successfully stop smoking. She said she sniffed it constantly through
out the day. Best Wishes! Shar
Dear Lorie and JOYgroup
I quit smoking December 31, 2000. I was tired of being a smoker and
smelling like an ashtray. But it was also my best friend that comforted me
when all went right and wrong in my life. I was frightened of living
without my buddies and I was frightened of failing. But guess what?
I DID IT! Clove and Peppermint dropped in my mouth at different times
throughout the day helped with cravings. I used Clove most of the time, but
when the craving overwhelmed me I put a drop of Peppermint on my tongue and
took several deep breaths. It worked like a charm! Sulfurzyme every day
and orange juice also helped.
Looking back, I should have cleansed during this time. I wholeheartedly
believe it wouldn't have been as difficult if I had cleansed (including
liver cleanse) while I was quitting.
Plan for success - get a game plan on how to deal with the cravings. I used
Clove and Peppermint for my cravings. Water and orange juice were other
ways of adding strength to fight the cravings. I would play a game of
Solitaire to reward myself for getting through a craving without "caving in"
to it! You must truly want to quit or nothing will work. There are no
quick potions to halt emotional and physical cravings, only these wonderful
oils to lend assistance when needed! Peace and Calming, Hope, Joy,
Forgiveness, Harmony and Into the Future are other oils I found helpful on
my adventure to be smoke free! Peace and Calming is my favorite! PLAN FOR
SUCCESS!
Congratulations to your sister for wanting to quit! She has taken the first
big step! I pray she finds the strength deep within to give herself the
gift of life! Pass this on to her - congratulations!
With kindest remembrances. Namaste, Nicole
Hi
A drop of Clove in the mouth a few times a day apparently helps with smoking
cessation, but the new Thieves Lozenges are wonderful and strong. I don't
smoke but my hunch is they sucking on them would take away the yen for
another cigarette. Hope this helps, Kiki Bakshi
Hi Maureen
I don't have a personal experience with this, but in my Aromatherapy class
today I learned Patchouli and Geranium together would help stop the craving
to smoke. Nimisha Jimenez
Essential Oil Uses A-Z-Allergies and Asthma
Allergies are no fun and when you are having symptoms you want them to go away as quickly as possible. An allergy can be triggered by food, pollen, fungus, mold, environmental chemicals, dander, dust, grass clippings or insect bites.
You may want to give these ideas a try;
    • Put 1 to 2 drops of Lavender essential oil on the palm of your hands, rub your hands together, and then wipe your hands on your face, neck, and arms, and anything not covered.
    • Put 1 to 2 drops of Lavender on the palm of your hand and now massage onto the bottoms of your feet.
    • Put 1 drop of Peppermint on the palm of your hand and cup your hands over your nose and take several nice long deep inhalations. (Be mindful to not touch your face with your hands, just cup your hands about an inch away from your nose and face.)
To help the lungs open, the following oils may help;
Peppermint, RC. (blend), Raven, and Eucalyptus Blue.
Apply any of these oils to the chest, either neet or with a carrier oil. Then apply the oil to the bottoms of the feet, to the right of the ball of the foot which is the reflex points for the lungs.
When applying R.C. to the foot to increase the oxygen, apply Marjoram on top of the R.C. This may help to drive the R.C. into the smooth muscle of the lungs.*
A handy item to have on hand and which is very convenient to carry in your pocket or purse is, Breathe Again Roll On. Apply it to your throat, neck or chest every 15-30 minutes for up to four applications. This may help for relief of symptoms related to colds, coughs or sinus/lung congestion, or asthma.
Breathe Again™ Essential Oil Roll-On is a proprietary blend of oils specially formulated by D. Gary Young, to support respiratory health. Breathe Again contains four powerful eucalyptus oils: Eucalyptus staigeriana, Eucalyptus globulus, Eucalyptus radiata, and Young Living’s original Ecuador single, Eucalyptus blue. Eucalyptus oils contain high amounts of cineole, which has been studied for its potential to support healthy lung function. The essential oils peppermint, myrtle, and copaiba also play an integral part in this blend. Breathe Again is available in a portable roll-on applicator, making natural relief available anywhere.*
Asthma
When one has asthma and has an asthma attack it can be very uncomfortable and scary. The causes of asthma could be caused by so many things, from milk, bananas, greasy products like fries, pizza, chemicals, air fresheners, perfumes, cleaners, floor wax, or even bathroom and household cleaners. This can make many of us that suffer from asthma, have lousy days, where we would so much rather be doing things outside or just feel better, period!!
We may need to change our personal care products to get away from products in the stores that have unwanted ingredients in them. Think about it this way, by putting chemicals and toxins on our body those unwanted ingredients are soaking in through our skin and going to other parts of our bodies, cells, membranes, organs, etc. Now by using healthier personal care products, you lessen the physical reactions and may begin to feel much better very quickly.
We are constantly having to fight free radicals, just by breathing in the air that is contaminated, to the water we drink, to the clothes we wear. Don’t you think it would be better to try to help our bodies, as much as we possibly can. We are the ones that pick and choose and make the choice of how to treat ourselves. If we want to feel better, we need to take the steps towards these changes, so that we have a healthier more comfortable life.
Young Living has a wonderful line of personal care products, from shampoos and conditioners, soaps, skin care, lotions, edible fluoride free toothpaste, mouthwash, deodorant, household cleaner and much more. (Even products for the pets we love) You can be assured that the products you buy are healthy, safe and heavenly.
If you suffer from asthma, I hope you choose to make these changes, and along with changing your personal care products there are essential oils that may help to.
Please take note:
ASTHMA CAUTION: Essential oils should not be inhaled for asthma-related problems. The oils should be applied to the soles of the feet or ingested (if they are GRAS – Generally Regarded As Safe-During an asthma attack, the bronchials (air tubes) in the lungs become swollen and clogged with a thick, sticky mucus. The muscles of the air tubes will also begin to constrict or tighten. This results in very difficult or labored breathing. If an attack is severe, it can actually be life-threatening. Many asthma attacks are triggered by an allergic reaction to pollen, skin particles, dandruff, cat or dog dander, dust mites, and foods such as eggs, milk, flavorings, dyes, and preservatives. Asthma can also be triggered by respiratory infection, exercise, stress, and psychological factors.
The following essential oils and convenient roll on, may be important natural products to have in your medicine cabinet, your purse and on your person to be prepared for the next time asthma attacks*
Natural Ways May Ease Asthma Symptoms
Natural, alternative therapies for Asthma comfort? Wouldn’t it be nice to have an alternative? Another choice that may be complementary to the therapies you are currently using? In this article you will learn of “natures” alternatives for natural remedies that are readily available.
Asthma is an inflammatory disorder of the airways, which is characterized by variable and recurring symptoms causing attacks of wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing. These symptoms may be prevented by avoiding triggers, such as allergens, irritants and stress.
The prevalence of asthma has increased significantly since the 1970s. As of 2009, 300 million people were affected worldwide. In 2009 asthma caused 250,000 deaths, although generally with treatment, prognosis is good.
Common symptoms of asthma include wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness and coughing. Symptoms are often worse at night or in the early morning, or in response to exercise or cold air.
Many environmental risk factors have been associated with asthma development and morbidity in children;
Environmental tobacco smoke, low air quality from traffic pollution, outdoor air pollutants or high ozone levels, along with pets and dust mites.
The most effective treatment for asthma is identifying triggers, such as cigarette smoke, pets, or aspirin, and eliminating exposure to them.
ASTHMA CAUTION: Essential oils should not be directly inhaled for asthma-related problems. The oils should be applied to the soles of the feet, rectally inserted, or ingested (if they are GRAS – Generally Regarded As Safe) During an asthma attack, the bronchial (air tubes) in the lungs become swollen and clogged with a thick, sticky mucus. The muscles of the air tubes will also begin to constrict or tighten. This results in very difficult or labored breathing. If an attack is severe, it can actually be life-threatening. Many asthma attacks are triggered by an allergic reaction to pollen, skin particles, dandruff, cat or dog dander, dust mites, and foods such as eggs, milk, flavorings, dyes, and preservatives. Asthma can also be triggered by respiratory infection, exercise, stress, and psychological factors.
D. Gary Young, founder of Young Living essential oils, always makes it a point that the best way to the lungs is through the rectum. Get a baby syringe and add the oils like RC, Thieves, and all the Eucalyptus Oils to the syringe with V6 mixing oil and implant them in the rectum before bedtime. You may use capsules of the same formulas. He recommends about 5-15 or 20 drops, depending on the seriousness of the lung problem.
FIRST RECOMMENDATIONS: Wintergreen, R.C. and Breath Again Roll-on.*
Other Single Oils: Eucalyptus radiata, lemon, lavender, rose, frankincense, marjoram.*
Other Blends: Raven, Inspiration, Thieves and Sacred Mountain.*
Essential Oil Application Methods:
Not only would giving essential oils a try to help in your wellness, but you will be saving money AND using a natural product that originated from Mother Earth and which has been provided to us as a medicinal plant in a bottle.
Asthma Can Be Scary When It Hits
Jonell Elder
Asthma is becoming more and more common to the point that you may know of someone suffering from asthma. For anyone with asthma, they are very aware of how scary an asthma attack can be. One really starts to worry if their inhaler is not near.
People with asthma experience symptoms when the airways tighten, inflame, or fill with mucus. Common asthma symptoms include:
    • Coughing, especially at night
    • Wheezing
    • Shortness of breath
    • Chest tightness, pain, or pressure
Still, not every person with asthma has the same symptoms in the same way. You may not have all of these symptoms, or you may have different symptoms of asthma at different times. Your symptoms may also vary from one asthma attack to the next, being mild during one and severe during another.
Some people with asthma may go for extended periods without having any symptoms, interrupted by periodic worsening of their symptoms called asthma attacks. Others might have asthma symptoms every day. In addition, some people may only have asthma during exercise or asthma with viral infections like colds.
Mild asthma attacks are generally more common. Usually, the airways open up within a few minutes to a few hours. Severe attacks are less common but last longer and require immediate medical help. It is important to recognize and treat even mild symptoms to help you prevent severe episodes and keep asthma under better control.
Know the Early Symptoms of Asthma
Early warning signs are changes that happen just before or at the very beginning of an asthma attack. These signs may start before the well-known symptoms of asthma and are the earliest signs that your asthma is worsening.
In general, these signs are not severe enough to stop you from going about your daily activities. But by recognizing these signs, you can stop an asthma attack or prevent one from getting worse. Early warning signs include:
    • Frequent cough, especially at night
    • Losing your breath easily or shortness of breath
    • Feeling very tired or weak when exercising
    • Wheezing or coughing after exercise
    • Feeling tired, easily upset, grouchy, or moody
    • Decreases or changes in lung function as measured on a peak flow meter
    • Signs of a cold or allergies (sneezing, runny nose, cough, nasal congestion, sore throat, and headache)
    • Trouble sleeping
If you have early warning signs or symptoms, you should take more asthma medication as described in your asthma action plan.
Know the Asthma Symptoms in Children
Asthma affects as many as 10% to 12% of children in the United States and is the leading cause of chronic illness in children. For unknown reasons, the incidence of asthma in children is steadily increasing. While asthma symptoms can begin at any age, most children have their first asthma symptoms by age 5.
Asthma is characterized by inflammation of the bronchial tubes with increased production of sticky secretions inside the tubes. Not all children with asthma wheeze. Chronic coughing with asthma may be the only obvious sign, and a child’s asthma may go unrecognized if the cough is attributed to recurrent bronchitis.
The use of therapeutic grade essential oils is an alternative and natural way of healing, and I have experienced seeing relief when using these different practices during an asthma attack. Using essential oils and also making changes in your household environment could be exactly what you need to see a substantial change in your health.
Please note that in this article I am referring ONLY to Young Living Essential oils, as they are the best quality oils available.
ASTHMA CAUTION: Essential oils should not be inhaled for asthma-related problems. Essential oils should be applied to the soles of the feet. During an asthma attack, the bronchial (air tubes) in the lungs become swollen and clogged with thick, sticky mucus. The muscles of the air tubes will also begin to constrict or tighten. This results in very difficult or labored breathing. If an attack is severe, it can actually be life-threatening. Many asthma attacks are triggered by an allergic reaction to pollen, skin particles, dandruff, cat or dog dander, dust mites, and foods such as eggs, milk, flavorings, dyes, and preservatives. Asthma can also be triggered by respiratory infection, exercise, stress, and psychological factors.
The following oils may work really well for asthma relief:
    • Peppermint
    • RC
    • Raven
    • Eucalyptus Blue
Apply 1-2 drops of any of the above oils to the bottoms of the left foot, with approximately ¼ teaspoon of V6 or a carrier oil, such as extra virgin olive oil, onto the center part of the foot next to the ball of the foot. This is the lung Vita flex point.
Should you feel the need for more oxygen, apply 1-2 drops of R.C, with approximately ¼ teaspoon of V6 or a carrier oil, such as extra virgin olive oil, once again to the lung area on the bottom of the left foot, to increase the oxygen, and apply 1-2 drops of Marjoram over the R.C. which has already been applied. This drives the R.C. into the smooth muscle of the lungs.
(Please refer to the Vita Flex Foot Chart below.)
Just as a precaution it would be a good idea to have Breathe Again Roll On on hand at all times. This convenient roll on can be applied to the throat, neck or chest every 15-30 minutes for up to four applications for relief of symptoms related to colds, coughs or sinus/lung congestion, or asthma.
Breath Again Roll On is a proprietary blend of oils specially formulated to support respiratory health. Breathe Again contains four powerful eucalyptus oils: Eucalyptus staigeriana, Eucalyptus globulus, Eucalyptus radiata, and Young Living’s original Ecuador single, Eucalyptus blue. Eucalyptus oils contain high amounts of cineole, which has been studied for its potential to support healthy lung function. The essential oils peppermint, myrtle, and copaiba also play an integral part in this blend. Breathe Again is available in a portable roll-on applicator, making natural relief available anywhere.
Another beneficial way to help be less symptomatic with asthma attacks would be to change your personal care and household products to green, chemical and toxin free products. You and anyone else around, including pets, would be much better off to change your living environment in this way. Young Living has what you need to get you on the right track to live with pure, natural, green personal care, household and even pet care products.
Think about it this way, by putting chemicals and toxins on your body or using them while cleaning, those unwanted ingredients are soaking in through your skin, you are breathing the awful chemicals into your lungs, along with them going to other parts of your bodies cells, membranes and organs.
We are constantly having to fight free radicals, just by breathing in the air that is contaminated, to the water we drink, to the clothes we wear. Don’t you think it would be better to try to help our “temples”, or bodies, as much as we possibly can.
We are the ones that pick and choose and make the choices of how to treat ourselves. Let us all make the choice, to respect ourselves and our loved ones by making these changes in our lives.
It is wonderful to know how our lives can benefit from pure, natural, safe products and that is why I am so very proud and passionate about Young Living Essential Oils. I am thankful to be able to share now and forever the beauty and power of essential oils, man kinds first medicine. Please contact me, as I would enjoy hearing your comments and to help in answering any of your questions.
Note: Not all essential oils are the same. Therapeutic-grade essential oils are steam distilled and wild crafted, their oils are carefully extracted by way of hot water and steam and they are free from any synthetic chemicals. Many labels use the words “For External Use Only,” which means that they might include chemicals other than pure oil. Read more on quality.
Last year I developed a severe bronchial infection and cough, then a sinus infection on top of that. It took 3 'upgrades' of antibiotic and several weeks to knock down the infections, but I was left with a continual sinus drip and a chronic cough with heavy mucus.
I had been inhaling Raven and RC and the Breathe Again Roll-on for temporary relief, but house dust, changing sheets, outdoor air and all cleaning products and hair sprays sent me into gasping, coughing fits. After being tested for asthma, given an Rx for an inhaler and Advair, which I didn't use, I decided to research the Young Living info I had been collecting for years.
I came across notes from a YL seminar I had attended in 1996, which gave us a blend for COPD for inhaling. In an empty bottle, pour
3 drops Rosemary oil
2 drops Peppermint oil
2 drops Lemon oil
Inhale this deeply for 2-3 minutes, as needed. I mixed a big batch, using 45 drops Rosemary, 30 each of Peppermint and Lemon in a clean empty YL bottle. I carry this with me, and take it to bed.
It stops the tickle, the wheezing, and the sinus drip. My once chronic condition is gradually disappearing, and using it as soon as symptoms appear nips the allergy reaction in the bud.
I now diffuse a few drops in the house before cleaning, and in my bedroom on bad air-quality and sheet changing days.
HYSSOP
From the Book: Healing Oils of the Bible by David Stewart
• Chemistry: Ketones 48%, Monoterpenes-30%, Sesquiterpenes-8%, Phenols-4%, Alcohols 2%
During his last moments on the cross, Jesus was offered a sponge with sour wine extended with a fragrant branch of hyssop.
Why hyssop? Crucifixion is death by slow suffocation as one’s lungs gradually fill up with fluid. Breathing the scent of hyssop may have been offered by ladies of mercy to those dying by crucifixion to help ease their congestion and provide some relief both physically and
emotionally.
Patty
Not sure what your dad is able to do or is willing to do but here are a few
suggestions.
If he can take oils in a capsule, there are oils that are mucolytic and
will break
up the mucus which he can then thin by drinking lots of water. Some of
those
oils are Copaiba and Hyssop. He can try taking a capsule of half and half
Lavender and German Chamomile which according to Gary are powerful
antihistamines. But I am not sure whether taking a natural antihistamine
is
OK with his medical condition or not. I don't have any experience with
that.
There is a blend for sinus conditions which my family has used successfully
for many years -- 10 drops Peppermint, 5 drops Eucalyptus Radiata and 2-3
drops Tea Tree diluted 50/50 with a carrier oil. Apply 1-2 drops to a
cotton
swab and swab inside of nostrils 3 times daily.
You can go to this website and research taking Vitamin D in larger amounts
www.homefirst.com. He can take/use Clove which is a powerful antioxidant
and might help as well. He can keep a cotton ball with Eucalyptus in a bag
by his bed and breathe in the oil when he needs help during the night.
You don't want to do ALL of
these things, but you could try just one at a time and see how he does.
Peppermint Oil“Every time I feel my allergies acting up, I reach for my Young Living Peppermint Essential Oil. I hold my finger over the bottle opening and tip it over. Then I lick my finger to get the oil on my tongue. Within a day or two my allergy symptoms are gone. MamtaAustin, TX2007-11-1
Lavender Oil“When one of my clients is having trouble with allergies, I suggest that they rub Young Living Lavender Oil on their chest and under their nose. If they don’t get relief after a day or two of this, then I suggest that they take one drop of Lavender oil with six drops of olive oil in a empty veggie capsule. They keep adding another drop of Lavender oil every two days until they get relief. The toughest cases are usually helped with 3 drops of lavender oil in a capsule taken once a day. More Testimonials from www.oil-testimonials.comI’ve been using Young Living’s Peppermint Oil since last year and it has helped both my daughters with issues such as fever and seasonal allergies. I also had a bout with allergies earlier this year and peppermint helped keep my sinuses clear. Wanda Gaskins 2007-06-06
I have very bad allergies when they flare up. I refuse to take any statin drugs for the symptoms I have been suffering. My friend was visiting who was a Young Living distributor. She gave me some Young Living Lavender Oil in my hand to inhale and I had such a wonderful experience. My allergies cleared up in few minutes and I was able to breath and my eyes were clear. I had no idea how powerful these oils were. Since this experience, I have ordered an essential 7 kit and a diffuser and are diffusing oils like lavender and many others. Thank you Lord for the vision and purpose you have placed in D. Gary Young.Linda Scott
2006-07-14 Every year I suffer from fall allergies, goldenrod, etc. I usually would use an over-the-counter medicine to help me through it. Well this fall season I strictly used Young Living Lavender Oil. I applied it right on my sinus, over my nose and under my nose. It helped! I didn’t need to use over-the-counter meds at all. The effects don’t last as long as meds, so I just applied more often. I slept through the nights. I didn’t have to inhale that nasty nasal spray that is over-the-counter either, that used to be an every night thing before. Thank you Lavender oil!Jamie Musolff 2005-12-16
Two years ago I got rashes all over my body, pretty nasty. The Allergist has told me that I was allergic even to the air!! Well I decided to look for another opinion and I visited a Health Care Practitioner, who recommended me first to detoxify myself with Young Living Peppermint Essential Oil which is ingestible, and to stop eating wheat. Well that was magic within 2 weeks all my rashes started to disappear.Cecilia Magsam 2007-04-30
I really appreciate Young Living Allerzyme because it is a versatile enzyme supplement. I take it for two reasons. One reason is that it helps relieve swollen sinuses and stuffy nose. And it contains the essential oil blend Di-gize, which supports the digestive tract, in contrast to most allergy supplements, which often have a side effect of causing constipation. The other reason I take Allerzyme is for gas and spasms in the colon. It really relieves those problems for me. Eileen Cain
2004-11-08 I used to have all kinds of allergies and asthma and was on everything from Seldane, Sudafed, steroid inhalers that caused heart palpitations, dry eyes and mouth and even on a breathing machine (nebulizer) at one point. Now, with the help of these oils, my allergies are almost non-existent and I am continuing to work on it.Here’s what I did: (Note: This has saved me thousands of $$ on allergy medications, allergy shots & in the past, missed time from work. Needless to say, no more side effects from those horrible drugs and over the counter meds!) I got a Young Living diffuser and diffusedYoung Living Purification Oil into a room with the door closed for 20 minutes a day while you are relaxing in the room. This is for the chronic cough. Any molds and allergy causing bacteria in the air cannot live in the presence of this oil.
I got R. C. Essential Oil Blend and put 2-3 drops in my hands. Rub them together, cup over nose and inhale 3 times deep. Also put 2 drops on chest and throat. This is a blend of 4 different kinds of eucalyptus and other oils. This is incredible for breaking up mucus, in the head, the lungs and anywhere else it builds up. This is the one that stops me from wheezing and coughing and lets me breathe so much better.
You can also get Young Living Peppermint Oil. If you ever get stopped up and can’t breathe through your nose, you’ll love this one. My husband puts 1 drop on his tongue and in then inhales it in. Then with the oil still on his fingers he rubs a little on the end of his nostrils and inhales again. He can breathe in 1 second after putting it on.
One more oil you should know about is Young Living Lavender Oil. Not only is it called Nature’s antihistamine, but it great for depression. It lifts me up in 3 seconds…When my nose won’t stop dripping, it drys me up right away.
Something I really realized while yesterday driving home. I was able to roll my windows down while on the road and smell the wonderful smell of fresh cut grass. Something I was never able to do all my life with allergies. If I did this in the past, I’d sneeze probably 20 times in a row and then be a wreck for several hours.
Since using Young Living Products: cleansing, oiling, supplementing and eating a good diet over the last 4 years, something worked! I can honestly say I AM ALLERGY FREE, and in Texas, where there are trees, molds, dust, grasses, hay, etc.!!! I would have never believed it!I try to eat as healthy as I can – no sugar, no white flour, no dairy, organic vegetables, hormone free chicken, little meat, no coffee or pop, no white bread, no processed foods, and also no chemicals in the household products or personal care products. I believe this has all helped.Recently, 5/2002, I’ve begun ingesting Young Living Eucalyptus Radiata and Young Living R. C. Essential Oil Blend before bed and for the first time in my life, I am able to sleep with a cat on my bed and still breathe well; no wheezing or sneezing. WHAT A MIRACLE!! I thought I’d never be able to have furry pets.
At this point in time, my Young Living monthly check pays for all of both Mark’s and my products, and we use everything from toothpaste to the Rain Spa Shower head. We are saving $$$ on our grocery bills and medical bills by substituting healthy products from Young Living for chemical laden items found at the grocery store; and it gets delivered to our door. What a wonderful blessing this has been for us!April Travis
2004-06-12 My brother visited Florida from California and came out of the bedroom swollen and itchy. He said he was allergic to something. He was exhausted, his 6 hour direct flight had stretched into 12 hours. I told him to put Young Living Thieves Essential Oil Blend on the soles of his feet. He emerged minutes later smiling and took the bottle back to California with him.Bonita Mertes
2006-06-15 Over Christmas when mom stayed at my sisters who has 2 dogs, she was bothered by the dog hair with sneezing, runny nose, and itchy eyes. She just kept inhaling and rubbing the Young Living R.C. Oil Blend on several times a day and had no more problems with her allergies. Patricia Hagge 2005-12-31 I have several friends with children who have allergies/asthma that come and visit my farm. Normally after 15 minutes in my barn, and around my animals, they come out with swollen eyes, stuffy noses, red faces, and going to ‘Mom’ for Benadryl, or inhalers, or what have you.I got rather frustrated so made a rule that if these children wanted to be in my barn, they had to use two oils before entering! First I had them put Young Living Lavender Oil on the palm of one hand, rub their hands together, and then wipe their hands on their faces, necks, and arms, and anything not covered. I had them do the same with Young Living Peppermint Oil, but only had them inhale this from cupped hands over their noses, but not wiping it on themselves.
Now these kids can spend hours in the barn with no ill effects – no runny noses, no swollen eyes, etc. I was amazed and delighted because now they can spend time with the animals which they love. Pat
Here is a great newsletter from Linda Smith.
Pay attention, how she is trying different oils to find what's helpful for this time.
The weather is as wild here in Colorado as it is all over the U.S. (For all you folks in Australia who are enjoying summer—you are missing all the fun with snow, floods, wind and wildly fluctuating temperatures!) We always say here in Colorado that if you don’t like the weather, just wait 5 minutes—it will surely change. Wild weather does affect us physically as well as mentally and emotionally. How do we stay balanced and healthy when there are such stresses all around us? Last week, I even had a hay fever (allergic rhinitis) attack as soon as I stepped off a plane here in Denver. My symptoms included constant sneezing, watery, itchy eyes, lots of mucus, and eventually the allergens irritated my Eustachian tubes resulting in earaches. It wasn’t a cold but the symptoms are similar only without the aching, run-down feeling. It took me several days to get on top of it even with m y oils and supplements. Allergies can hit actually anytime of the year. In the winter it may be due to the “invisible” allergens from trees as they go through their cycles. You can always tell if that is the culprit if your symptoms clear up after a rain or snow. The moisture literally “clears” the air and breathing becomes much easier. Airborne allergies can also be to pollen, pet dander, dust mites, trees, grasses, etc.
Allergens are actually proteins. Your body will produce antibodies which are “designer proteins” on the surface of white blood cells that act like “special forces.” They go out to meet the enemy. This is a protective mechanism gone awry. The body’s reaction to an allergen is to produce chemicals, including histamine that can cause tissue damage. Symptoms might include inflammation and irritation of the respiratory tract producing lots of mucus. (from me, Eugeniya. the body is trying to get rid of the toxin - normal defensive mechanism. When I had a cyst many years ago (before I got married!), I burnt it with my mind, visualizing a laser, a fire, a bomb explosion, etc. It took me only 1 night!)
In treating my allergy attack I used an assortment of remedies until I found one that worked best. I started with Harmony™ essential oil blend both diffusing it and directly applying it to my sinuses and chest areas. This blend has worked in the past but didn’t this time. I next soaked in the bath with lavender essential oil and that helped greatly but wasn’t sustained. Next I tried several different homeopathic remedies which helped for a short time but didn’t eliminate the problem.
That’s when I got out my resource books and looked up all the oils that have been known to make a difference with airborne allergies. It seemed that I needed to create a synergy of oils. Using a pendulum I selected niaouli, myrtle, and hyssop.
Oil of the Week
Niaouli (Melaleuca quinquenervia)
The oil I have selected for this week is Melaleuca quinquenervia better known to many essential oil practitioners as Niaouli. I was first introduced to this oil by Dr. Daniel Pénoël who found it to be an outstanding oil to support the respiratory system, especially for children. Niaouli is in the myrtle family of trees and the oil comes from Australia. It’s chemistry reveals that it is high in 1,8 cineole which is the respiratory tract’s best friend. It also has a fair amount (29%) monoterpenes, and about 22% sesquiterpene alcohols thus making this a mild oil good for children. By examining the chemistry, we find that niaouli is a powerful immune system balancer and promoter and is antiseptic for the skin. Since it clears the head, it aids in concentration as well. Many people have found it helpful for respiratory allergies among other conditions. It has a sweet, almost delicate fragrance as compared to Melaleuca alternifolia. It has become one of my favorite oils especially for supporting the respiratory system. You can get Niaouli from Young Living, #3089.
