Course Description: Geometric applications of the integral, logarithmic, and exponential functions, techniques of integration, conic sections, improper integrals, numerical approximation techniques, infinite series and power series expansions, differential equations (continued).

Prerequisite(PERMISSION CODE): "C" or better in (MATH 1210 OR MATH 1250 OR MATH 1270 OR MATH 1311 OR MATH 1310) OR AP Calculus AB score of at least 4 OR AP Calculus BC score of at least 3. If you do not meet the prerequisite and need a PERMISSION CODE to register, please submit the application here.

Grading Policy: Course grades will be calculated as follows:

  • Homework 15%
  • Quizzes 15%
  • Midterms 40%
  • Final 30%

I reserve the right to change the grading scheme as I see fit. Any other grading scheme I use will only be beneficial to your grade as compared to the above standard.

No calculators of any kind will be allowed on the homework, the quizzes, the midterms or final exam.

Homework: Homework problems are assigned via WeBWork. This is where you go to do your on-line homework problems. You should receive email for the login username and password via your Umail. Please check your Umail regularly for homework assignments, due dates and updates. It probably helps you the most in terms of learning if you print out a hard copy of an entire problem set first, then work most or all the problems on paper, then enter and submit the answers in the on-line WeBWork window. Although you may try problems as often as you wish and only your top score will be recorded, if you adopt the strategy of randomly trying answers you will actually be wasting your time in terms of learning the concepts.

Quizzes: There will be a 20 minutes closed-book quiz every Monday in class except Midterm weeks. NO make-up quizzes will be given. You are allowed to drop two quizzes.

Exam Policy:

  • In principle, there is NO make-up exam for midterms and the final.
  • If you must miss an exam due to illness, family tragedy, a University sponsored trip, jury duty, military service etc. contact the instructor as soon as possible. If you must miss an exam and are granted an excused absence I will prorate your grade on the basis of your scores from the other two exams.

Midterms: There will be 3 midterms in class (one hour).

  • Exam 1 on Monday, February 3rd
  • Exam 2 on Wednesday, March 5th
  • Exam 3 on Monday, April 7th

Final Exam: Monday, April 28th, 6-8 PM; NO make-up exam for Final.

Tutoring Lab: If you need help with homework and class material, please go to T. Benny Rushing Mathematics Student Center. There will be plenty of TAs who can help you during the center hour.
