About me

I'm a Profesor Titular at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and a member of the ICMAT.  During academic year 2023-2024 I am visiting Heriot Watt University funded by a "el programa de recualificación del profesorado universitario, financiado por la Unión Europea - NextGenerationEU

I received my degree in mathematics at the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela. Then I moved to Barcelona and in July 2010, I finished my PhD in mathematics at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. After obtained my PhD, I was a post-doctoral researcher for two years at the University of Southampon, for six months at the University of Neuchâtel and then NTT assistant professor  at Vanderbilt University. I returned to Spain with a Juan de la Cierva- Incorporación - grant, and then I was an  Ayudante Doctor at the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid

We will be running a group theory seminar in the ICMAT, please contact me if you want to give a talk. Here is a tentative list of talks.

I am one of the organizers of   Groups in Madrid a 2-day workshop that takes place every year in the fall.

I am a member of the researh team of the Agol Lab  at the ICMAT.

Interests

My research area in mathematics is geometric and combinatorial group theory. I study countable groups with some sort of non-positively curved behavior, like acylindrically hyperbolic groups, one-relator groups or graph products. Some of my recent research concern the connection between formal languages and group theory.
