MedIA Seminar Series 2013

Medical Image Analysis

Modern Optimization Analysis, Algorithms and Clinical Applications

Overview

Many problems of medical image analysis are challenging due to noisy imaging quality, weak boundaries, missing data, ambiguity, etc. It is highly desired in clinical practices for the high-performance computing tools which can solve such problems (even partially!) in an automated and efficient way. During the last 30 years, this motivated an active research, in a rather broad sense, to deliver advanced mathematical analysis of geodesic active contours, deformable shape matching, diffeomorphisms etc, and to develop efficient and robust numerical schemes. This Robarts MedIA series targets to present an overview of the successful medical imaging practices which were contributed by the students and researchers in Robarts within the recent two years. It includes a wide spectrum of research topics, each of which focuses on both the most recent application, with a direct real-world clinical connection, and the modern optimization algorithm.

Organization

This lecture/talk series includes 4 lectures + 10 talks (one hour for each lecture, 30 mins for each talk).

Dates and Location

This lecture/talk series will be taken from 23, July to 17, September, at the noon (12:30 pm – 2:00 pm) of every Tuesday; at the Fisher conference room (2nd floor, just facing the security section) of the Robarts building.
