七星螳螂宗師范旭東 曾師祖 

字翔昇，山東登州芝罘煙台大海陽村人，生於同治十年（一八七一年）。范旭東膀大腰腰園，方面大耳，魁武有神，世人稱其為范巨人。原在煙台新江泉澡塘搓澡，被王雲生看中，收其入門，傳七星螳螂拳。

范旭東於光緒二十年（一八九四年）師從王雲生學螳螂拳，六年藝稱。光緒二十七年（一九零一年），接王雲生估衣街拳房社教收徒。

范旭東身高大力，尤善刀法，得九省刀王之贊譽，且在鐵沙掌及正骨推拿拿方面也頗有造詣。

國民八年（一九一九年）范旭東帥徒楊維新，羅光玉，王傳義至俄羅斯西伯利亞霍地大擂台，擊敗俄國大力士，師徒共獲金盾，銀盾。 范旭東在煙台的後人不多，亦無綠習武。

范旭東有很多弟子，大弟子郭嘉祿，二弟子楊維新，三弟子林景山，四弟子羅光玉，五弟子王傳義。還有肖樹斌，趙亮甫，張有德，劉永昌等。王傳義由其祖父王雲生親傳，因有及父王世祿隔一輩，不能與范旭東平輩，所以排在范旭東第四徒羅光玉之後為五弟子。

Seven Star Mantis Grandmaster Fan Xu Dong  ceng shi zu

   Fan Xu Dong word Xiang Sheng, a native of Da Hai Yang Village, Zhi Fu, Deng Zhou, Shan Dong province, was born in the tenth year of Tong Zhi (1871). Fan Xu Dong has a big waist with big ears and a strong and powerful spirit. The world calls him Fan Giant. He used to take a bath in the Xin Jiang Quan Bathhouse in Yantai, but Wang Yun Sheng took him as his disciple.

Fan Xu Dong studied mantis boxing under Wang Yun Sheng in the 20th year of Guang Xu (1894), and he finished learning Qixing Tanglang in 6 years. In the twenty-seventh year of Guang Xu (1901), Fan took over Wang Yun Sheng boxing school in Juyi Street.

Fan Xu Dong was tall and strong, was very good at swordsmanship. He was praised with the name the King of Broadsword in Nine Provinces. He is also accomplished in iron sand palm and bone setting massage.

In the eighth year of the National People's Republic of China (1919), Fan Xu Dong, with his disciples Yang Wei Xin, Luo Guang Yu, and Wang Chuan Yi went to the Siberia, Russia, where Fan defeated the Russian Hercules, and won the gold and silver. Fan Xu Dong has few descendants in Yan Tai, and no one learned martial arts.

Fan Xu Dong has many disciples, the first disciple Guo Jia Lu, the second disciple Yang Wei Xin, the third disciple Lin Jing Shan, the fourth disciple Luo Guang Yu, and the fifth disciple Wang Chuanyi. There are also Xiao Shu Bin, Zhao Liang Fu, Zhang You De, Liu Yong Chang, etc. Wang Chuan Yi was passed down by his grandfather Wang Yunsheng. Because he was separated from his father Wang Shi Lu, he could not be equal rank to Fan Xu Dong, so he was ranked as the fifth disciple after Luo Guangyu, the fourth apprentice of Fan Xu Dong.
