祖籍潮州潮安, 正是在這樣的大時代, 出生於1950年新加坡的”大坡”地區,是個土生土長的新加坡人,家中除了父母親還有4個哥哥和1個姐姐。出身于普通家庭的,父親從事物流生意,家境還算小康,雙親日夜的操勞,尚能 維持 一家七口三餐的溫飽,然而在他8歲時突如其來的變故打破了原有的平靜,父親的臨終言更令浩順幼小的心靈自覺自己得要自強自律。
自幼便經歷了喪父之痛的劉師父也練就了過于常人的意志力 和忍耐力以及刻苦奮鬥的精神。就讀於端蒙中學時,由於天性好動除了課堂學習書法外,也對各種課外的武術運動深感興趣,特別是跆拳道,柔道等更是情有獨鍾,一顆武學的種 子正在劉師父的內心中萌芽…
憑借少年時期練習的功底,輟學後劉師父對於武學的專研並沒有鬆懈下來,時常流連於各種學臺表演。觀摩各類武術賽事。他先學習跆拳道後學插拳道。時不時找來一些武學好相互切磋,功夫倒是大有長進。並于1972年考獲第一屆新加坡插拳道黑帶晉升為教練,有了這個肯定,使他對于武學更是信心滿滿,然而他並不滿足眼前的西洋武術成就。基于民族的情感及一次對舞龍偶然的邂逅,促使他開始研究中國武術,幸運地的到了當時以少林行走武壇的劉玉坤師兄啟蒙,潛心研究后深知不足,機緣巧合下於1984年叩拜當時已是桃李滿天下的太祖拳名師,同時也是閩南國術創辦人的郭雄虎師公為師學習太祖拳,隔年再求于少林釋高參禪師第二代弟子林細春師公精研少林拳。由于時代的變遷,潮流的更遞,八十年代的舞獅舞龍之中,並再當時本地龍獅界極獲盛名,特別是他精湛的舞龍技藝及武術成就,讓多間武館,獅館紛紛上門邀請他為舞龍顧問。
說起舞龍,劉師父可謂是不折不扣的天降奇才。1972年,他代表海山國術體育會參與少林淂英堂國術健身社為慶祝九皇爺聖旦所主辦的舞龍遊行活動,第一次接觸舞龍的劉師父便對其產生了極濃厚的興趣,可說是“一見鐘情”!回到家中他難以抑制精彩龍藝帶來的震撼,一門心思投入了對舞龍的研究,之后便一發不可收拾也許他天生就是注定為舞龍而生!憑借自己對武術的根基修為,并在耳濡目染下,掌握舞龍訣竅,日后更是在潛移默化中研創獨樹一格的舞龍套路,令人嘆為觀止。
1977 年與眾好友成立了少峰山國術健身社,并力邀當時身處少忠山,並在嶺光國術研究社教導舞龍技藝的郭澤平師兄前來相助,為此同時也得到同属少林派的謝木荃師兄大力的支持。開始廣收學員,積極發揚與推廣武術及舞龍技藝,更設計不少新式的舞龍套路,在團隊裏實現自己的龍藝理念。讓青年人在一個需要團隊合作的環境下,鍛鍊身心培養品德,弘揚華族傳統的“忠孝仁義”美德,引導青少年走向正軌,服務社會大眾。憑借精湛的舞龍技藝,劉師父吸引了一大批的舞龍愛好者慕名而來,求學者門庭若市,劉師父亦都耐心教導。1983年,劉師父又與同好成立了平安壇醒獅學院,聲名鵲起,深得武壇同門敬仰,于1984年和1986年先後接受馬來西亞新山耶耶亞哇洪仙大帝廟舞龍隊和日興醒獅健身院邀請成為龍藝顧問,而通過多次交流訪問後,洪仙大帝廟舞龍隊斬獲多個世界舞龍冠軍頭銜,90年代更指導多支金龍隊伍以“少林龍”出征各種比賽,並在新加坡全國武術總會舉辦的全國夜光龍錦標賽中轟動全國龍獅界。(當時許多知名的舞龍團體如:平安壇,關善壇,日興,福雲壇,龍田,六巡,騰瓏館等隊伍紛紛奪得驕人的成績)。千禧年日興醒獅健身學院亦接連拿下新加坡全國夜光龍獅錦標賽三連冠,2010年代更帶領新加坡文揚龍獅運動協會榮獲新加坡夜光龍與竸技龍兩項三連冠的歷史殊榮,至此劉師父已是聲名遠播,廣受海內外同行欽佩。
2016年, 在眾徒的要救下,開始思考組織成為源流派系, 並把自己所創的舞龍技藝定位為“ 福建少林龍源流”, 一來為紀念郭雄虎(閩南)與林細春(少林)的教導之恩,二來是將自己與 郭澤平, 謝木荃三位師兄所研發的少林龍技藝傳承後代子弟。同時也團結世界各地福建少林龍的隊伍,繼續發揚舞龍運動精神。
2017年7月26日,在衆徒弟的擁護下,劉浩順師父正式舉行收徒儀式。在這歷史性的一刻,劉師父共收納納83位子弟為福建少林龍源流第二代弟子(其中一位是蔡明仁),回顧劉師父縱橫武壇四十餘載,門徒無數,同時還身兼海內外數十家龍獅館的龍藝顧問,一代宗師早已受到國內外武壇同道的廣泛認可。
Grandmaster Low How Soon
The ancestral home of Grandmaster Low How Soon is Chao An, Chao Zhou. He was born in the year 1950. He was raised and born in Singapore. Aside from his father and mother, he has four elder brothers and an elder sister. Born in an ordinary families, whose father engaged in logistics business, his parents work hard day and night, still able to maintain the family food and clothing, however, at age 8, his father’s dying told him to have self discipline and toughness.
Since childhood he has experienced the pain of losing of a father, he also trained his will power and his patience and toward the spirit of hard work. At the end of Tuan Mong High school, due to the natural intelligent of learning calligraphy, he became deeply interested with martial arts, especially Taekwondo, Judo, etc. a martial arts seed planted in his heart to bloom to become a bud ...
With his martial art’s foundation during his teenager, grandmaster Low continue to study martial art after dropping out of school, he frequently hang around in various stages of performances. Watch various martial arts competition, he first study Taekwondo and later Chap Koon Do. He would find some martial arts opponents to spar with them, his skills and techniques made great progress. In 1972, he was the first black belt in Chap Koon Do to be promoted as an instructor. This affirmation made him more confident in martial arts, but he was not satisfied with his martial arts achievements. Based on national sentiments and an accidental love with dragon dance, he started to study Chinese martial arts. Fortunately, he was taught by his martial art brother Liu Yu Kun, who was studying Shaolin style fist. In 1984 he studied with master Quek Hiong Hor, who was a famous Taizu boxing master and the founder of Man Lam Pugilist Association. Then after a year, he studied with Shaolin Monk Seh Koh Sam‘s disciple, master Lim Sai Choon to learn Shaolin martial arts. Due to changes in the times and trends, the local lion and dragon dances in the 1980s were extremely famous, especially grandmaster Low’s exquisite dragon dance skills and martial arts achievements, so many martial arts schools invited him to be a dragon dance consultant.
Speaking of dragon dance, grandmaster Low is a wizard in Dragon Dance. In 1972, he represented the Singapore Hai Sun Pugilitic Association to participate in the dragon dance parade organized by the Seow Lim Teck Eng Tong Physical Association to celebrate the Nine Emperor Gods. Grandmaster Low, who was first exposed to dragon dance, became very interested in it. When he returned home, he devoted himself to the study of dragon dance. Relying on his basic cultivation of martial arts, and with his ears and eyes, mastering the techniques of dragon dance, in the future, he will develop unique dragon dance routines, which was breathtaking.
In 1977, he established Singapore Siaw Hong Sun Physical Association with his friends and invited Shaolin brother Quek Chet Pen who was in Singapore Siau Tiong San Athletic Association and Singapore Nia Kwang Pugilistic Association, to help him in Dragon Dance. He also got brother Xie Muquan from Shaolin School to help him. He actively promoted martial arts and dragon dance and designing many new dragon dance routines to make their own dragon art concept in the team. Let the young people exercise their physical and mental qualities in an environment that promote teamwork and the Chinese tradition of "loyalty, filial piety, benevolence and justice", to guide young people in their right track to serve the public. With his superb dragon dance skills, Grandmaster Low has attracted a large number of dragon dance fans to come here, seeking scholars, and grandmaster Low patiently teaches. In 1983, Master Liu and Tonghao established the Ping Ann Tung Lion Dance, which rose to fame and won he admiration of the martial arts circles. In 1984 and 1986, he accepted the Dragon Dance Team of the Malaysia Yahya Awal Dragon Dance Group in Johor Bahru and the Ri Hing Lion & Dragon Dance Troupe invited to become a dragon art consultant. After many exchanges and visits, the Dragon Dance Team of the Yahya Awal Dragon Dance Group won multiple titles of world dragon dance championships. In the 1990s, he guided a number of Champion Dragon teams to participate in various competitions with their "Shaolin Dragon". The National Luminous Dragon Championship held by the National Martial Arts Association of Singapore made a sensation in the national dragon and lion world. (At that time, many well-known dragon dance groups such as Ping Ann Tan, Singapore Kuan San Tang Dragon and Lion Dance Troupe, Ri Hing Lion & Dragon Dance Troupe, Fu Hoon Tang, Long Tian, Liu Xun San He Lion and Dragon Troupe, Sheng Long Kuan Dragon and Lion Dance Troupe and other teams have won impressive results.) Ri Hing Lion & Dragon Dance Troupe also won the Singapore National Luminous Dragon and Lion Championship (Dragon Dance event) winning three consecutive championships. In the 2010’s, it was the Singapore Wenyang Sports Association (who he has taught), won the three consecutive championships of the Singapore Luminous Dragon and Free Style Dragon. So far Master Low is already famous and widely admired by colleagues at home and abroad.
In 2016, his disciples implore him, to organize and form a Dragon Dance Style with the dragon dance techniques and skills he created and named it "Fujian Shaolin Dragon Dance style". Fujian Shaolin Dragon Art was to commemorate his master Quek Hiong Hor (Southern Fujian) and master Lim Sai Choon (Shaolin). The second was to pass on the Shaolin Dragon skills developed by myself, Quek Chet Pen and Xie Muquan to next generations. At the same time, it also unites the teams of Fujian Shaolin dragons from all over the world to continue to carry forward the spirit of dragon dance.
June 26, 2017 , he finally accepted his dragon dance disciples, in the span of 40 years involvement in Dragon Dance and creation of the Fujian Shaolin Dragon Dance, he finally accepted 83 disciples (one of them was Arnold Buenviaje), disciples were insructors of Dragon Dance groups, they were from Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Macau and Philippines.
