The Wolseley 6/90
Styled by Gerald Palmer, the Wolseley 6/90 was introduced in 1954 as a replacement for the 6/80. It was powered by the BMC 2.6-litre C-series engine, which gave the car a top speed of around 90 mph.
The interior was leather trimmed with a polished wood dash and door cappings. As originally released, the 6/90 had a steering column mounted gear change. It had a separate chassis with coil spring and wishbone front suspension, and coil spring and radius arm rear.
The Series II 6/90, introduced in 1956, had a restyled facia, modifications to the rear suspension and was now equipped with a floor mounted gear change on the right hand side of the driver’s seat. Eight months later, in 1957, the Series III 6/90 replaced the Series II. The Series III had a larger rear window servo assisted brakes and lower geared steering. The 6/90 Series III was replaced by the Farina styled 6/99 in 1959.
