Lake Newell Resort Marina Launch pictured
Lake Newell Resort Marina
For trailer launched sailboats launching can be done at the boat launch at Lake Newell Resort Marina. Lake Newell Resort marina area dry stalls are pictured below. Dry stall storage saves set-up time/hauling/home storage. Lake Newell Resort's launch has one drawback in that the dock running along side the launch ramp is on the wrong side of the bulkhead. This makes it difficult to assist launching and retrieving the boat off and onto the trailer.
The launch at Lake Newell Resort Marina faces East and is fairly sheltered from the stronger winds that generally blow from the NW and SW. There are slips available as well and Lake Newell Resort marina has a facebook presence for contact if you are interested in sailing your cruiser or trailer launched sailboat on Lake Newell this season. If you rent a dry stall you don't have to pay launching fees.
Floating stalls at Lake Newell Resort are available as well.
Kinbrook Island Provincial Park Boat Launch
This ramp is good for larger sailboats requiring trailer launching. It can be busy on warm summer weekends. There is no charge to launch a boat here. It is a double sized ramp with a large breakwater and dock alongside the boat ramp (dock removed for the winter). Having the dock along side of the ramp helps with launching and retrieval of your boat.
Smaller dinghy sailboats can be launched from a boat dolly from the boat parking lot directly across a sand beach to the water. Light weight sailboats may also be carried to the water from the boat parking area.
Newell Sailing Club's Dinghy and Catamaran dolly Launch
For dinghies and beach catamarans having a launching dolly will help a lot. Newell Sailing Club provides it's members good access to the water from it's location at the north end of Kinbrook Provincial Park boat launch area. The sailing club also has excellent dry storage facilities for small to large sailboats providing the owners with the ability to have their boats in a semi prepared state. Consider joining the club for sailing, windsurfing, socializing and convenience.
Rolling Hills Reservoir
Water from Lake Newell flows out of the Southwest corner into Rolling Hills Reservoir. If Lake Newell is too busy consider going to this reservoir. It is around 10 km South of Kinbrook on highway 873. The campground, boat launch and marina are run by the Eastern Irrigation District.
