Foils have added another element to on the water wind drive activities. Look on line for information. More information to come on this activity.
I am familiar with Neil Pryde RS:one design convertible. Foiling on a windsurfer requires a bit different technique than non foiling. It is smoother but takes quite a few crashes to get proficient. I wear a full length wetsuit to protect the legs from the foil fins and as well hold onto the boom when going down.
There are a lot of U-tube videos on technique for foilling whether you do it with a kite, a hand held wing or windsurf. Try to find the time to pursue this extra wind driven activity. It's worth it.
Lake Newell has weeds in some areas of the lake, generally shallower spots nearer to the shore. If you are planning on foiling on Lake Newell it may be necessary to learn where these areas are. Also on windy days some lake weeds can become floating weed masses of varying sizes. Weeds and foils don't mix well.
