Fall Carnival
Time commitment: This is our biggest fundraiser of the year. It involves planning (on site and off site) from September through October 24th, then full day of preparation on the day of October 24th.
Subcommittees:
Sponsorships: outreach to community partners (restaurants, stores) to fundraise cash or in-kind donations
Food: menu and budget planning. Food preparation and cleanup on the day of the event.
Games: organize and install carnival games. General operational maintenance.
Volunteer: help recruit and organize over 100 volunteers
Prizes: organize and purchase prizes for students to redeem. Run the prize booth on the day of the event.
Spring Jog-a-Thon
Time Commitment: On site. One day in the spring, some planning beforehand that may include solicitating sponsorships from local businesses.
Responsibility: Create and distribute event materials, assist on the day of the event.
Teacher Appreciation Week
Time Commitment: On site and off site. First week of May and the planning beforehand.
Responsibility: Organize special events and gifts for teachers and staff for Teacher Appreciation Week. This event takes lots of creativity to put together and is always a great experience to see the smiles from our teacher’s and staff.
Book Fair
Time commitment: On site. AM/PM during the weeks of Fall (9/5-9/12) and Spring (TBD) Book Fairs. This event will have short one-time shifts before school, during lunch and after school.
Responsibility: Organize the fair and help students make purchases
Library
Time commitment: On site two days a month during library hours (9-11am M-F).
Responsibility: Students visit the library every other week on the designated hour/day for their class. Parent volunteers serve as librarians to process returns and check-outs and general library maintenance. Readers for our youngest students will select a book to read to class and assist in reading to the students during open reading time.
Ad Hoc Flyer Design
Time commitment: About 2 hours for each assignment
Responsibility: Design flyers, tickets or other materials as needed for our events. If you have any background with Canva or are quick learner, this is an easy way to help from home.
Newsletter Writer
Time Commitment: About 3 hours a month
Responsibility: This is a great way to learn more about what's happening at the school and contribute to our community on your own timeline. The PTA will provide photos and topics with your input and you'll use Canva (or a program of your choice) to write and design a 2-4 page newsletter each month.
Gardening
Time Commitment: On site. Flexible but requires consistency
Responsibility: Maintenance of the vegetable gardens at the library and in the kindergarten courtyard
Visual Arts Volunteer
Time Commitment: 4-6 hours a week onsite.
Responsibility: Help set up, assist teachers and clean up art activities during the students visual arts classes.
Curb-Side Drop Off
Time Commitment: Before school for 30 minutes for 1-5 days per week onsite.
Responsibility: Help ensure safety and order during curb-side drop off in front of the school.
