We start the day with a visit to the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage and spend a great hour there as the youngsters come back from their morning walk to be fed. You will also see the individual elephant that you have adopted and learn more about the work being done by the Sheldrick WildlifeTrust.

Working across Kenya, the Trust's projects include anti-poaching, safe guarding the natural environment, enhancing community awareness, addressing animal welfare issues, providing veterinary assistance to animals in need, rescuing and hand rearing elephant and rhino orphans, along with other species that can ultimately enjoy a quality of life in wild terms when grown. The SWT is best known for its work with elephants, operating the most successful orphan elephant rescue and rehabilitation program in the world. While the Orphans’ Project is the heart of the organisation, it cannot exist in isolation and over the last 40 years the Trust has developed an extensive, multi-faceted approach to conservation to ensure a greater and long-lasting impact for wildlife.

After visiting the orphans we will have lunch before heading down the Mombasa Road to our overnight stop at the spring fed oasis of Hunter's Lodge, near the small town of Kiboko.
