About Us

Founding

The Wilkes County Gazette is published by Jeanne Armonk Enterprises. It

is based in Wilkes County, NC.

Originally published in May 2009 as The Wilkes Gazette by Shooting

Star Media, it was first known as the fun, little newspaper. The Wilkes Gazette

has undergone a number of changes and titles these past 6 years.

The original Wilkes Gazette added a digital website edition in November 2009.

By 2011, The Wilkes Gazette was solely published as a digital newspaper and

thereby reached a wider audience. The original founder and editor, Teresa S.

Maynor worked tirelessly to increase its readership by adding content and

showcasing the Wilkes Gazette through social media via Facebook, Twitter and

Myspace.

Transfer of Ownership

In September 2012, the Wilkes Gazette Company transferred its ownership

from Shooting Star Media to Jeanne Armonk Enterprises.

The website underwent a major restructuring for most of 2013.

In 2014, the publication was renamed the Wilkes County Gazette.

The printed supplement Wilkes County Gazette Shopper was first published a year later in 2015.
