The three new walkways from the street into our parking lot will (we hope) be finished by the time this newsletter goes to press. We’ve had very positive comments on the project. Our primary concern is how to keep the dirt off the walkways during and after a heavy rain. We have several options to address this issue and are certain to have a very positive outcome.
Those of you who spend time on our pathways have noticed potential trip hazards where our inspection teams have marked areas with blue tape. Some of this unevenness is caused by the under-soil settling; tree roots are lifting the concrete pads in other areas. In a few cases, as the trees grow, they cause the cement pads to move. A tree specialist from The Woodlands Township visited with us, providing advice on how to best deal with this issue. Their position and ours is that, as a last resort, we will have to remove a few trees. We are looking at these repairs as a two-to-three-year project, working on the immediate concerns this summer and then the others in 2023 and 2024 to set aside funds to cover this cost.
With summer here, pool activities are picking up. Unfortunately, as our pool and equipment age, maintenance will continue to be an issue that is compounded by long lead times on parts, primarily heaters and pumps. Our staff is in constant contact with our maintenance company to insure that we are doing all we can to obtain the parts needed now and in the future for maintaining the pool in our desired pristine condition.
Work is underway to update our Ballroom’s sound and video system. The new equipment will improve our community interaction by allowing us to better communicate via Zoom during various Ballroom meetings and to record sessions for later viewing through our website.
