Hall of Fame Inductees

Dave Steinbach (Brookfield Central)

Coach Steinbach’s contributions to Wisconsin tennis are both numerous and impressive. A five time USPTA Midwest High School Coach of the Year, he sits atop both the boys and girls leaderboards with 400+ dual boys wins and 500+ dual girls wins in Wisconsin tennis. Added to those impressive numbers are 13 Wisconsin team state championships and 13 runner up finishes. Additionally, 423 individual flights have qualified for the state tournament under his leadership, 39 times his teams have won the sectional championship and 17 times they have finished as runner up. Add 28 conference team championships into the mix and it is no wonder his overall dual record sits at 946-171. Coach Steinbach has also won two WHSTCA coach of the year awards, two National Federation of High Schools coach of the year awards as well as the same recognition from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. He has spent his career teaching both in the classroom and on the tennis court and will deservedly enter the WHSTCA Hall of Fame on November 1st at the coaches’ clinic.

Jim Litscher (Eau Claire Memorial)

Consistency and excellence are two descriptors that fit Coach Litscher's 24 year coaching career well. Litscher's teams have won the Big Rivers Conference championship 42 times en route to a combined conference record of 264-10. The Old Abes have also qualified for the team state tournament 31 times after winning their sectional 36 times. It is no surprise, then, that Litscher has qualified individuals for the state tournament every single year on his way to a career 644-144 dual meet record. Coach Litscher's teams have also finished as state runners up five times. He was recognized as WHSTCA Division I Coach of the Year in 2004, has served on the WIAA Advisory Committee and has served on the state tournament seeding committee for 15 years.
